Re: Recreated Keen 4-6 Source Code

Just use BC20, BC30 and LZEXE, and create 100% identical copies of the original v1.4 executables before trying BC31.

Edit: Now it's saying this: Fatal: Unable to open file 'C0M.OBJ'
Sounds like you haven't setup your library directories correctly: https://cmpde.wordpress.com/2015/09/20/ ... file-in-c/

Re: Recreated Keen 4-6 Source Code

Searching through the source code, I guess the Keen-looking-at-his-watch-sprite really isn't used in Keen 4 v1.4.

Re: Recreated Keen 4-6 Source Code

I guess in theory it's easier to modify the CGA version to support other graphics modes because it doesn't use hardware tricks unlike the EGA version. In practice, I have no idea how fast it will run. Btw, somebody already created a 160x200 16 color Tandy version of Keen 4 by hacking the Keen 4 comp...

Re: Recreated Keen 4-6 Source Code

Honestly, I don't really see the point, except for some obsessive-compulsive desire to recreate every posible version of Keen 4-6 that ever existed. The CGA versions are clearly inferior versions of the games, both in terms of the number of colors and the smoothness of the movement in-game. If you ...

How difficult is it to recreate the CGA versions?
We have the Keen Dreams CGA source code, right?

Re: Apogee Hint Sheets....

In 2009 Joe Siegler scanned all the hint sheets and manuals and published them on the 3D Realms website.
Too bad you can't download them anymore from there. :(

Re: Space Chase

I have an awesome tool for playing music on my PC. But that doesn't mean I wrote that program. 8) I didn't say Scott Miller created the PC speaker sound effects file format. I said he might have given the tools to the creators of Space Chase, like he gave the tools to Karen Chun: Jason : How did yo...

Re: Space Chase

I was thinking about Scott Miller, because Karen Chun said: Yeah. Scott Miller had an awesome tool for generating PC speaker sound effects. source: ADG Episode 211 - Pickle Wars (Revised) But Lane Roath or Lane Roathe is another good guess. On an old website he takes credits for Speaker Sound Edito...

Re: Space Chase

The file STORM.SSZ (inside STORM1.SSP) stores the PC speaker sound effects in the same format as used by Keen 1-3 and Duke Nukem 1. :o How is this possible? All the other games that use this file format are related to id Software/Softdisk/Apogee. Was this game going to be released by Apogee and did...
