Re: Joystick and Gravis Gamepad

I wonder how many Keeners (or people in general over the past 29 years) have used these devices in any serious way for playing Keen. Never used a Gravis gamepad or any of those older joysticks myself, but one of my brothers would sometimes use an Xbox controller to seriously play Keen. He had to us...

Re: OFF TOPIC THREAD: Where derailing the thread is impossible!

Listing modding utilities used has become customary in this community, but if he’s not familiar with the “traditions” here I don’t suppose he would. I think it is likely he just used KeenWiki. If you search “commander keen modding” on Google, KeenWiki is the top result, and after scrolling awhile ou...

The Origin of the Keen: Vorticons Death Animation

This thing: :dead2 It was never really clear to me what that was supposed to be. That is, until I watched this. I'd heard that in the development of the Keen universe, Tom Hall took some inspiration from the old 1953 short film "Duck Dodgers in the 24th and a Half Century". So I watched it. You know...

Re: OFF TOPIC THREAD: Where derailing the thread is impossible!

Well, I was waiting to see if this guy would post about this here, but after this long I doubt he's going to.
Has anyone else seen this? It's a Keen 1 mod, released just after Insalevs3, on ModDB.

Should there be a topic about this?

Re: Financial phobia

I don't think most people are concerned with the fact that income only comes in once a month-- so I don't think this is something that you need to worry over. Everyone I know is certainly more than "merely existing" on the days they aren't getting a paycheck. I would recommend doing some studying of...

Re: The Mortrix (K2 mod)

I've played a couple levels so far. They're definitely fair and well-balanced. I like the 5000 points idea. It's always cool to see an extra challenge like that. It gives some good replay value. I've only found the first one so far. :dopekeen The animated doors are cool, how they have that little te...

Do let me know if that website works, because sometimes people report it doesn't work for them.
Works fine for me. That's a classic, alright. (By the way, the mod the song is used in was made by Mink, but the song itself was composed by Mr. M. ;) )

I also thought " :foot " was either Keen drinking a soda or blowing bubblegum, until I saw the name "foot in mouth". :p the Perilous Pit was absolutely some kind of odd-shaped dirt cylinder Its not?? :O You should see this thread: https://pckf.com/viewtopic.php?t=3039 . Re: Suburb Shenanigans

Whoa! :eek Looking at the wiki images, I can see just how much the houses actually look like real accurate models of houses. The doors all correspond almost perfectly to how their positions would actually be when you go through; even the closed doors in the background match up. And the map looks lik...

Re: Welcome to the migrated PCKF!

I have discovered a strange glitch where if you have an apostrophe (') and a quotation mark (") next to each other (the order doesn't matter), or with any amount of spaces in between, you will receive this error when trying to post or preview the post: https://i.postimg.cc/nL2ZCLgs/Screen-Shot-2019-...

Re: Misconceptions

Yeah, those ammo-collection noises were definitely enough to wake the stunned. :p I remember for some reason on some old hardware I used years ago, the Soundblaster option was extremely loud, so I always had to use Quiet Soundblaster. My own personal misconceptions: Keen 1: I thought the blue cities...

Re: Early Atroxian Realm Sequel Thoughts

In real life, I graduated from college earlier this year and joined an awesome indie game development company/publisher as a programmer. To self promote a little, you should check them out ( http://serenityforge.com/games ) and maybe even consider supporting some of their games Awesome! I was hopin...

Re: Suburb Shenanigans

I finished it! :D I think my favourite levels are "Neighbor's Backyard" (which had a good way of quickly backtracking after you get the silver key, and a cool song in the second half) and "Cosy Dwelling/The Garden" (which had a neat secret area, and that exit was unique and well done, the way it sig...
