Re: Sunstriker Mods "Fireblaze: Curse of the Dragonlords"

Hmm. This mod has been removed from ModDB. I still have my original .zip file downloaded from the ModDB page before it was taken down, if anyone wants a copy. (KeenWiki doesn't seem to have had the files uploaded to it.) To make things even more mysterious, Sunstriker Mods now has a "TBD Commander K...

Re: The PCKF Archive

I was reading up on Cho'gall and their contributions to the Keen community just now and saw this (now outdated) Keen Wiki article saying they "owned" this forum. Cho'gall (Tore Stubhaug) is the current owner of the PCKF and Cerebral Cortex 314. This page was last modified on 5 June 2007, at 15:49. ...

Re: Planet Cloudius IX

Aaaaah I remembered seeing the development thread for this! I should've gone back and looked at it, you even put the title in there! That would've explained the cloud picture! Everything makes sense now! I see this whole scavenger hunt thing also ties in with the game's story: https://i.postimg.cc/f...

Re: Pics of Keen on old systems

Randomly found this on Google Images one day: http://www.diffusedion.co.uk/images/C/Keen318.jpg This guy apparently has a website where he uploads pictures of games he's completed on original hardware. Here's the index for the games he did in 2018 (including all episodes of Commander Keen): http://w...

Re: Happy Keen day! Beta testers required!

DOUBLE POST :O I've finished my beta playthrough of the mod. I have all my videos up and in the playlist now, and have added time stamps in the description boxes for when bugs show up to make them easy to keep track of (there were a lot of little things, and also more severe problems). This was a go...

Re: Happy Keen day! Beta testers required!

I seem to be a bit later getting to this than I was planning.... I have been recording video footage of my testing so you can see one player's reaction to the puzzles and such, in real time. So far I have the first part edited (I was about to upload it, but I discovered some issues in the video so t...

Re: The PCKF Archive

Ooooh more PCKF history. :drool That's so fascinating to see. At what point did the Keen community become a single forum instead of a bunch of scattered boards? That really looks like the Medieval ages for the community. There was a lot more toxicity way back then. We've really come a long way since...

Are there any pixel art-specific tools that make this sort of shading quicker to experiment with these days?
There's mtPaint, which was developed with pixel art in mind, and has the ability to paint full dithered patterns with a single brush stroke.

Re: Planet of the Pandas

Heh, well I tried to give Keen a "cool action pose" for the jump falling frame; since I figured that's one of the frames you're going to be seeing the most of, I wanted it to be interesting. It's definitely very different from the original (which seemed a bit stiff almost, so I tried to mix it up a ...

Re: Happy Keen day! Beta testers required!

Now this sounds very neat. I think I'll check this out in about a week or so when I have a bit more time, and then I'll be more able to take detailed notes on things. Most of the beta-testing I've seen happen around here is done with a private release to a few select people, so I find it very intere...
