Keen 2 odd items
For some odd reason I was inspired to play Keen 2 today, and immediately found 2 oddities: http://s7.postimg.org/5z7qfjgtn/K2_SS1.png http://s7.postimg.org/gkrlrjn57/K2_SS2.png anyway, what the heck could these things be? btw that second one has the SGA letters 'VC', but could it really be a giant t...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only underwater level in all the Keen games is the Well of Wishes in Keen 4. That place has at least one 'secret' passage, near the end, right under the Guardian. It's a handy space that can save you from the Dopefish(es), but it doesn't lead anywhere. I believe ther...

I am very interested to see if the hints paper says anything about the Cave of Oblivion. Please get back to us when you find it. Well I'm done moving but not done unpacking. I don't remember packing it away (along with the booklet for K6), but there are some boxes full of all kinds of stuff... Howe...

It also doesn't make sense that there are 6 teddy bears in an area that you can't get back down out of. If you jump up there, you end up trapped. Ah, but notice... You can get the bottom row of them by jumping low. As long as your feet don't go above the door, you will fall back down. In fact, the ...

The Cave of Oblivion...
Level Map here: http://dosclassics.com/keen/map.php?a=3&l=15 I know that we've known this for some time, but this level can only be won by going up over the mountain. That's because the final bottom-right area is cutoff since the access tunnel is only one square high. However, as I was looking o...

I see. z and x for CTRL and ALT are good replacements, if you use the left CTRL and ALT buttons. I've always used the right ones. Now that I think about it, the left ones would be better since they give you easier access to the spacebar. Additional question: if you regularly use CTRL and ALT, do you...

Yea I understand the gripe about those windows keys, even tho I never use them (does anyone? I mean the start button is easily clickable, and even using the button u gotta move the mouse to the menu anyway, and that other button is just the equivalent to a right-mouse-click AFAIK) If they get in the...

Redefining Keys
So I just started playing Keen 1 again, and remembered that there is a help file you can get by pressing F1. So I'm reading it just for the hell of it, because I usually read the story and this help file is pretty obscure. And not too far down it says: "You can redefine these keys by pressing F...

So what you mean to say is that border village is harder than, say, The Caves of Oblivion? (going to the easy exit makes my point moot but you get what I mean. I just can't think of the name of that really hard level where you have to ride a platform and jump into a small hole in a house with 2 vor...

The thing is, with K1 - K3, there is no in-game save. You can only save on the level map. So in this tournament with these rules about a complete run, i think those games will play similar. K4 - K6, however, allow in-game saving. Some of those levels are impossible on hard without saving in progress...

Let's make it all Keens, even Keen dreams. We can choose whatever one we want, and post our progress as it's accomplished. I suspect most of us will start with K5. And we should allow video to be submitted, but not required. Ah, but the thing is, we might have to agree which secret levels, if any, t...

The big taboo in practicing is because I would like to see how people are playing at this moment, not after loads of practice. In that case, the one with the most spare time will probably win. After 100 tries I guess we can all maken it with 0-1 death per Keen. Ah, I see what you mean. In that case...

I found the K4 competition fun but frustrating. It would be even more frustrating for me if I was forced to complete a run, let alone only try once. I'd feel like I couldn't reach my potential, so I won't participate in this one. Why the big taboo on practicing? Can't we just do the runs as we pleas...
