Re: Operation Ocflore

It also includes the patches that K1n9_Duk3 has posted in this thread. Yes, but they're in the wrong place and therefore not applied by CKPATCH. You should have added them before the memory checking code. There's a "%end" command before my memory checking code, which means CKPATCH will stop parsing...

Re: Operation Ocflore

These patches should fix most of the issues related to enemies turning around on or near a slope (assuming the hitbox for sprite 193 is also fixed): #generic WalkReact (used by Arachnut, Inchworm and Mimrock) %patch $B55C $83 $7C $0E $01 # cmp [si+xdir], 1 $75 $06 # jnz l1 $83 $7C $3C $00 # cmp [si+...

Re: Keen Awards 2019

NY00123's video was uploaded two months before that thread was started, so I'd say he should get the credit. After all, he created the "Chocolate Keen" port of Keen 1-3, so he might have been aware of the jump height being related to CPU speed long before I stumbled across it.

Re: Operation Ocflore

And there's still a problem with the hitbox of the Snorkel (slug replacement) that can cause it to get stuck after pooping while facing right. It's sprite0193 in uGrab. And there's another bug in the Keen4 code that also causes issues. Enemies only turn around when the middle of the hitbox is no lon...

Re: Keen Awards 2019

[...] Or do you think it should be done otherwise? No. I think voting with a dedicated poll is the way to go. I hope that this will make it easier for people to participate, since they can just vote with a few clicks instead of having to type a message. Okay then, I would like to nominate the follo...

Re: Keen Awards 2019

Anyone else? Just nominate what you enjoyed in 2019. What was special that year? You can also nominate your own works (at least no one said something against it in the past). It started quite well, don't let this die, please. :begging Do these nominations automatically count as our votes or is this...

Re: Starting out with CKSRCMOD: some issues

I'm not sure if Turbo C++ will work. I've been using an installer package called "Borland C++ For Wolf3D" (or something like that) ever since I started messing around with the Wolf3D source code in the early 2000's. I remember that it was packaged with a Windows-based installer, probably created by ...

Re: Operation Ocflore

I've come up with another patch that might be useful if you're trying to run this mod on a real DOS PC but the game complains that there is not enough memory for the background music on some levels. Just insert this into the patch file: ############################## # Load Audio Chunks Directly # #...

Re: Runtime error 200 (divide by zero) in Pharoah's Tomb, Arctic Adventure, Monuments of Mars

The PCX Effects library code attempts to detect the CPU speed so that the delays during the animations work correctly. On "fast" CPUs, this results in a divide error. This should help you get the games running, even on "fast" CPUs. Either that or set your DOSBox cycles count back to the default 3000...

Re: uGrab - a GUI-based EGAGRAPH editor (not just) for Keen source mods

I have uploaded a new version of uGrab . The new version can extract the EGAHEAD and EGADICT files from the game's executable, which makes it easier to mod Keen 4-6 with uGrab. The zip file also comes with the necessary ModId definition files. Copy the definition file into your game folder and impor...

Re: Getting Keen 4-6 and Dreams mods running on real DOS PCs

I guess the results may vary depending on the hardware configuration. The way the EMS and XMS memory allocation works in the Keen games is that the unused parts of the upper end of the address space are mapped to physical memory addresses. This area (anything between 640 kB and 1 MB) is usually rese...

Getting Keen 4-6 and Dreams mods running on real DOS PCs

I know I'm not the only one around here who tends to play some Keen games and mods on a real DOS PC from time to time. Unfortunately, most mods require very large amounts of memory, to the point where some of them won't even run without issues in DOSBox. Many mods even come with a disclaimer saying ...

uGrab - a GUI-based EGAGRAPH editor (not just) for Keen source mods

I've mentioned this project a few times, so I guess it's about time to go public with it. This is uGrab : http://k1n9duk3.shikadi.net/img/screenshots/ugrab/ugrab_01.png I grab. You grab. We all grab -- with uGrab! Like it says in the title of the thread, this is mainly intended to assist in the crea...

Re: Level Viewer for KEEN VORTICONS and GALAXY (and more...)

I just wanted to let you know that I uploaded updeted versions of my level viewers for Keen: Vorticons and Keen: Galaxy . The main feature found in both viewers is that you can now use the + and - keys on the num block to zoom in and out instead of being limited to 1x, 2x, 3x and 4x zoom level via t...

besides... was this graphic suppose to be meant as the squished Inchworm/Feathered Vindrizi Grub you were talking about earlier? https://i.postimg.cc/YSyw8LKJ/ck4-sprite-0396.png Based on what I've seen in the patch file, yes. I've used this for the patch that makes them squishable. Is there no scr...
