Re: uGrab - a GUI-based EGAGRAPH editor (not just) for Keen source mods

For Catacomb 3-D, there is really no point in using uGrab, especially if you just want to edit the exising graphics and not add or remove things. WDC should be able to do anything you want. If you want to do some serious Catacomb 3-D modding, you'll need to get the source code from GitHub and a copy...

Interesting. Thanks for sharing that information. And also: welcome to the PCKF.

Re: Commander Keen Is Now on GOG!

Yet another incomplete "Complete Pack", unforunately. Only Keen 1-5 are included, Keen 6 ist sill missing. As is Keen Dreams, but you can still get the shareware releases of Keen Dreams (it's the full game) for free.

Re: Commander Keen Catalog

I think some of the real early TXT2COM catalog files from Apogee were using colored text, but I guess it's better if I just tell you about the syntax: TXT2COM expects a plain text file. The tilde character (~) is used as a color change marker and must be followed by two hexadecimal digits. The first...

Re: Commander Keen Catalog

I could do the TXT2COM conversion, but only for TXT2COM (early 90's catalog and help files). The later versions of the catalog and help files were created with Simply Docs and I don't have any tools for that. But you might be able to use a shareware copy of Simply Docs 2.1 or Simply Docs 3.0 . Also,...

Re: In search of... Abrams Tank. Hovertank 3d port

I vaguely remember a Hovertank "clone" created by "Hard Disk Publishing" that was sold on Steam for a while. I have only seen screenshots or maybe a video of it, but never actually played the thing. The person running "Hard Disk Publishing" is "Javier M. Chavez", the guy who bought the rights to Kee...

Re: Users with broken avatars

If K1n9_Duk3 is around Yeah, I'm here. I just changed my avatar's URL to https and it seems to work fine, at least on my end. Does the change to https mean that the images won't work on old browsers that don't support the https protocol? I'm not sure whether it would even be possible to browse this...

Re: Is UNLZEXE still considered "malware"?

The very nature of UNLZEXE is that it takes a program in EXE format (more precisely: an EXE file that has been compressed with LZEXE) and then modifies the program (removing the LZEXE compression) and saves the modified file under the same name as the original file, effectively replacing the file. A...

Re: Foray in the Forest (development thread)

the Keen engine can feel a bit wonky with a tiny pole Two words: source code. :p I haven't actually playtested any levels with these poles in them, but there's a non-zero chance that FITF will handle poles a bit differently. Is that stone path a recoloured path of Keen 59? A keen eye for detail you...

Re: The Great Galaxy-Mod Bug Hunt 2020

Like K1n9_Duk3 already mentioned, there is a limit of characters per line. If expanded the game gives an error message. So your level name shouldn't exceed the maximum width of X characters in order to be displayed properly. In other words, when a text window is given a line of text too wide for it...

Re: The Great Galaxy-Mod Bug Hunt 2020

A bug remains in The Eight Accumulators [...] Thank you for pointing that out. It's fixed now (same download link as before). In case you're wondering what caused this bug, the level name was The Bean-With-Bacon Megarocket and I changed it to The Bean-With-Bacon Megarocket The ID Engine doesn't ins...

Re: Aarrgggh the Garg in: New Yorp City

I haven't actually played this mod, but just by running the patch file through my patching utility I was made aware of a few issues in the patch file: The patches in lines 171, 179, 188, 191, 206, 208 and 211 are overwriting other parts that have already been patched. For the most part, this is over...

Re: DUKE NUKEM II LEVEL EDITOR (and other stuff)

Yeah, levels 2 & 3 won't work in the original DOS version, but if you apply my memory fix to the DOS executable, you can at least get them to work in DOSBox. Real DOS PCs might not be able to provide enough free conventional memory to play these levels. The memory usage of a level depends on the siz...

Re: The Great Galaxy-Mod Bug Hunt 2020

For those who missed it, I just wanted to let you know that I added some lists to the first post, pointing out the remaining mods that have patching bugs in them and the mods that don't. So if you're not sure what to expect from any of the Galaxy-mods that I haven't updated so far, check those lists...
