Re: Jill of the Jungle Returns

There is a way to make sure the demons can always be killed with a single shot, regardless of the game version. All you need to do is to edit the demon object(s) and set the "statecount" value to 5 for each demon in the level files. (At least that's how it should work when using my jMod level editor.)

Re: keening

This is from a small brochure that Apogee seems to have shipped with the registered version of Keen: Galaxy at some point. You can find the full PDF here as "Keening.pdf", along with other Apogee/3D Realms manuals:

This thread is where the link comes from.

Re: Planet Cloudius IX

In Galaxy it is nearly impossible to do the IP when standing still and poging straight up. You have to do it at an angle. Even when you can do it, you will never get the extra height the IP gives you. Having worked with the original Keen:Galaxy code (or at least the closest approximation available ...

Re: Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure II: HUMANIZED!!! (W.I.P.)

In fact, native DOS with a fast Pentium III Processor is much better than DOSBOX! Sometimes, but not always. If you want to play some of the late DOS games like Quake or Duke 3D and such, then a fast Pentium III is probably better/faster than runnung these games in DOSBox. A ton of really early DOS...

Re: Apogee Hint Sheets....

In 2009 Joe Siegler scanned all the hint sheets and manuals and published them on the 3D Realms website. Too bad you can't download them anymore from there. :( Thanks for the info. I downloaded all the scanned manuals back in the day, but I didn't download the hint sheets. Since I knew the old 3D R...

Re: Apogee Hint Sheets....

The digital copies from GOG.com also seem to come with scanned PDF versions of the hint sheets (pre 1993 games) or manuals (post 1993 games). Some games (like Duke Nukem 1 + 2) also shipped with an "on-disk hint sheet" some time later (the versions of Duke 1+2 that are on the Duke Nukem 3D v1.3D CD ...

Re: Updated- 'The Ruin of Roib' - beta v3

Actually, that "foot" you edited is the "computer panel" at the end of the game. What did you change there exactly? As the comments in the patch script say, I fixed a bad jump address. The old code used to jump into the middle of a CPU instuction, which could cause all kinds of issues (because the ...

Re: Atroxian Realm (Version 1.1 Released)

I'd read that there were 24 levels and 23 x3UP. Just assumed the first level was the one without... As Nisaba said, and as Gridlock himself says in the endgame sequence, there is a 3up in all 24 levels. I have beaten the game and I can assure you all 24 3ups are reachable. The game has 26 levels to...

Re: Planet Cloudius IX

Updated to 1.0.10 It's good to know that you keep improving the game, but could you please make a new post in this thread when you release a new version? Just editing the first post doesn't leave any indication that something new has been added, so most forum users won't notice the update. Also, it...

Re: Planet Cloudius IX

And K1n9Duk3, excellent acheivement on this engine! One very minor nitpick, I think the level entry jingle is too loud compared to everything else. Thanks, it's good to hear I didn't just waste my time over the past 11 years :old . I think Roobar changed the volume of the level entry sound in one o...

Re: Atroxian Realm (Version 1.1 Released)

These "Travelator" paths (conveyor belts) utilize a quirk of the engine's tile collision detection. It seems like this quirk requires rather high in-game frame rates to work correctly. It's fine for me when I run the game in DOSBox at 3000 cycles or more, but when I set it to some lower value (I tes...

Re: Planet Cloudius IX

If you don't like that particular exploit, then don't use it. And if somebody else uses it, then that still doesn't affect your gameplay experience in any way. I didn't say that the checkpoints were "solving anything". I just wanted to point out that if you want to emulate per-level scoring by quick...
