Re: Misconceptions

For an embarrassingly long time I misinterpreted little Ampton's arms as forming a kind of fanged snout. I don't know how I explained the pole sliding to myself.

Re: First Keen mod you played

Yorphius II for me! I remember what really astounded me about that mod was the color scheme, and the art style (a lack of black outlining) being so different from Keens 1-3; it really made it feel alien and new! The level design was great as well; the difficulty felt on par with the original games. ...

Re: Keen 4 Most Favorite Level?

These results are surprising! I picked the Perilous Pit because I feel like it exemplifies the perfect use of space and balance in a level. Every part of the level forms a room or scene, the level is concise without anything superfluous. Each of the areas are unique. The gem/switch 'puzzle' is a gre...

Re: Keen 4 Least Favorite Level?

I loved the strange and obscure secrets in it, it really gave the whole level a mysterious atmosphere. The fact that so much of it is secrets and stuff you don't need to play to beat the level is what makes it so cool in my opinion. This seems to me a major determining factor for how players view t...

Re: Keen 4 Least Favorite Level?

Good points on Crystalus, Nisaba, in terms of tile utilization (which leads to a lack of landmarks, as Soul Monster points out) and the lack of logical map-to-level representation. These are definitely downsides and not something I'd praise the level for. This really focuses my thought toward what I...

Re: Keen 4 Least Favorite Level?

I feel like there's something really interesting to learn about the levels which received no votes. Miragia and Border village might be set aside because of their unique functions as first level and, maybe, because of the wetsuit discovery, but Lifewater Oasis and The Perilous Pit stand out to me. A...

Re: Return to the Shadowlands

Thank you for stepping in to fix this while I've been absent, Nisaba. When I have time I'll merge this into an official 1.06.

Re: Sign of the Vool

I've got quite a lot going on right now, enough that I'm having to postpone work on my current Keen projects, but as far as Sign of the Vool goes: I hope to work on this again someday. Quite a lot is done, but a lot remains to be done as well, and the fact is that the completed stuff is all random; ...

Re: Keen 4 Least Favorite Level?

My least favorite is also the least memorable level for me, Chasm of Chills. So much of this level is optional/secret, similar to many Keen 4 levels actually, but the primary, required path is completely uninteresting, and even the secrets never felt special to me. The top area with all the clouds a...

Re: Operation Station Infiltration

Robo Gang https://i.ibb.co/Pw3Ny30/Robo-Rangers.png Thoughts? Yellow or Teal? Any ideas for how yellow/teal attacks? I would like an Omegamatic that is more different in design, like the one from Mink's Puzzle Pack The world map is already done...and it's on the simple side like the Omegamatic, whic...

Re: Recreated Keen 4-6 Source Code

Fantastic! You know I"ll be using these, and Nisaba and I are currently developing a source modding tutorial and I think this would make the perfect base to teach others with. I think you're work here is going to be the foundation of whatever mods we see in the future. Looking forward to workin...

Re: Return to the Shadowlands

I'm just gonna say, if you're planning for your first level to be a certain "Blooglet Lake" I'm going to have to be very annoyed *Quietly crosses this off my level list* we just need a map editor that allows the user to select from a rearranged "palette" of tiles instead of (or ...

Re: Operation Station Infiltration

Right now there isn't really much to show other than enemy designs, which I'm torn between spoiling or not. Re Robo Green, mine will share the name of these others but will use an original design based on a modified robo red (similar to robo blue's difference to robo red). I think I shared the desig...

Re: Return to the Shadowlands

Was the initial plan to cover most of the extended world map in mountains, or there would be a path to different areas (assuming the topic was considered)?
If I understand the question correctly, yes the extra area above the original world map would have been all mountains.
