Re: Commander Keen 1 - Fase 01 Reinterpretation

Interesting. I kind of like the idea of having different types of Yorps, although why have a "Danger Yorp" when Gargs exist?

What are you using to make this? Is this just screenshot mockups right now, or do you have an actual demo?

Wonderful, I've started playing this through on my Miyoo Mini v4. I decided to try it on Easy mode this time. Many of the levels feel a bit bare on Easy, but that's to be expected. I ...

Re: Keen Awards 2025: Nominations

Atroxian Realm was nominated in 2019 for update 1.3, so I don't think it should count. Also, if you're nominating the Alphamatic update, it feels a little weird to nominate the original as well. I'm not the judge, so those are just my opinions.

Perhaps you're right. I do see that Atroxian Realm ...

Re: Keen Awards 2025: Nominations

For either "Most Promising Project" or "Best Update to a Mod" (if it gets released in 2025), I'd like to nominate Gridlock's update to The Alphamatic.

Re: The Alphamatic (Version 2 + Marooned Over Mars Expansion)

I am also really looking forward to the new level and other changes!
I think I somehow missed the 2021 update as well, so I have 5 new levels to look forward to. :)

Re: Keen Dreams Gold - 1st birthday release

I've played through the beginner mode together with a 5-year-old who still found about half of it too difficult. :p It's definitely harder than Keen 1.
Some of the most difficult parts, as I recall, were the mushrooms that floated up & down in one level (they were moving too fast for the kid's ...

Quick note on our end: we're working hard on another update for the 2.1 release candidate with even better everything! ;)

So, pause your ongoing playthroughs and stay tuned! Fresh stuff is on the way

Re: Prison Escape (development thread)

I haven't given an update in a while, so I figured I might as well post some progress.

Mobiethian has been working on a tileset design with much trial and error. Oh, and I also wrote the story.

Re: Keen 1, 2, 3 Bug Fix Versions

I've played most of the way through the bug-fixed Keen 3 (except for the final level and the secret level), and I'd like to say that I greatly approve of most of the changes. It's nice to know that the levels have actually been play-tested and are beatable - previously, I had never once beaten every ...

Re: Was Keen 4-6 a kids game?

You can tell they were inspired by the campiness of old sci-fi from the 1960s and earlier among other things, especially in Keen 6.

Interesting. Anything in particular that you can name?

Re: Keen 1, 2, 3 Bug Fix Versions

Since no instructions are provided, I decided to post what I did to patch my Keen 3 with this version, to help anyone else similarly stuck:

Unzipped Keen3BigFixV5.zip into its own directory

Copied over all files from my "original" Keen3 directory into the new directory, setting it to "skip" all ...

Re: Keen Dreams Gold - 1st birthday release

Wow, this looks really impressive! :garg

I remember the disappointment when I first played the game that was in the folder named "KEEN7" in the 1990s. No music, no ledge grabbing, hard to hit the enemies, which don't stay killed... I felt cheated.

When I introduce my kid to Keen Dreams, it'll be ...

Re: What books have you been reading?

A few months ago a book caught my eye at a second hand store... the text was difficult but something about it grabbed me, so I bought it for $5.

It was the Hackett Classics edition of The Faerie Queene, book 1 , written in 1590 and probably the oldest thing I've read with pleasure.

It's an epic ...
