Re: New version of Xargon with level editor + bonus levels + extensive instructions released!
That's been a surprise, it's great to have this new release from the original author! Thanks to Allen Pilgrim not just for the new release, but also for more than that - mainly the freeware and open-source releases of Kiloblaster and Xargon. Regarding the new release, the idea of releasing anything ...

Re: Foray in the Forest - now available as a patch-based mod for Keen 4
Even before downloading, I've had a guess of how may it be possible, technically speaking.
Briefly checked the PAT file (just a few seconds), it's more-or-less as suspected by me. Haven't done more than that, but I may let others write here if anyone wants to.

Re: Keen 6 Apogee Demo Version
That has surely been a thorough analysis of how do various versions differ! You clearly have much more knowledge on the topic than me. Last year I started some in-depth research on the code differences of the various known versions of Keen 4-6. Based on my results, the evolution of the source code a...

Re: Keen Day package 2024
I suspect that it's Keen 58 where things have taken at least some efforts. I'm a bit confused. Are you saying that other parts of the package took no effort at all? Not what I meant at all, the wording was possibly imperfect or imprecise. It's all relatively speaking. I recall Keen 58-59 making sig...

Re: Keen Day package 2024
That's been enough work; I suspect that it's Keen 58 where things have taken at least some efforts. I was aware of your thread*, the one titled "The Great Galaxy-Mod Bug Hunt 2020". I saw my old AAMBA level pack being covered as well, albeit I didn't really check that version or even its c...

Re: Happy Keen Day (Dreams)!
ok, I've gotten a bit confused. It's really the presence of an earlier download making me realize that this thread, in fact, was originally created on Keen Day 2023! And yet, we have another use of the what I referred to as "Keen Dreams - Unofficial Tech Demo". Looks like I originally rele...

Re: Keen 6 Apogee Demo Version
Very nice, great to see another demo version unexpectedly being available to the public after all of this time. I do wonder how was that floppy disk so rare. Then again, the same might apply, e.g., to Keen Dreams versions.

Re: Developer's Vault: Foray in the Forest Prototypes and "Lost" Content
Here's my 4th belated forum post (albeit less belated this time) that is preceding Keen Day 2024 just a little bit. Wow, it is great to gain access to early development snippets, like what's been linked to here. I knew about the project originally starting, well, around 15 years ago, right? Still, a...

Re: Foray in the Forest
Here's my 3rd belated forum post preceding Keen Day 2024. As already known by the end of 2023, it's finally here, the mod that (at least as a concept) was originally started by Mr. M back around 2009. I haven't really tried new Keen-related mods or other similar contents recently, but from what I do...

Re: Operation Station Infiltration
Time for my 2nd belated forum post preceding Keen Day 2024 a bit. I haven't really checked new Keen-related contents in a while in general. But, I have a guess for what to expect (even if not entirely identical), given that I did go through "Return to the Shadowlands". So, my hunch is, gre...

Re: Commander Keen 2000 - Remake [Version 1.0]
ok, that's the first forum post I'm having here since 2023, for which I'd had exactly one post back in August. Doing so a bit before Keen Day looks like a good chance. So, it's been a while since I gave the remake a try. It has a passwords.txt file which was last updated on September 30 2022, accord...

Bio Menace's 30th Anniversary
The 30th anniversary occurs today, for this one use of the Keen Dreams (and 4-6) engine in the 90s. - What I still haven't seen since 2020 is new user-made contents, but I know it was never as commonly played as Commander Keen games. - Also, I wonder, are all names of in-game creatures/enemies known...

Re: ReflectionHLE (Reflection Keen)
Version 0.40.1 has been released. This update mostly consists of usability improvements. Also, for people less familiar with ReflectionHLE, a web page is now up: https://reflectionhle.com/ This release will hopefully resolve usability problems with keyboard overrides, and possibly also with other in...

Re: Commander Keen 4 Tandy 320x200 16 color version
Doesn't Keen already have VGA and MCGA detection ? I'm not sure if it works, but the game does have some code that takes VGA into account . You're right, maybe the existing detection code is sufficient. Right now when I play the Tandy version in PCem emulating a Tandy 1000 SL/2 with 640 KB of memor...

Re: Pole Foreground Bug explained!
Wow, nice catch! lemm and NY00123's analyses make sense to me: this is really a bug where the priority/zLayer isn't properly being reset when ledge-grabbing is interrupted. And, yes, it seems to have been fixed in Keen 6, interestingly enough, which Omnispeak hadn't taken into account. I've updated...
