Re: 30 Years of Keen Dreams

Keen Dreams was the other Keen game I had as a kid besides the Keen 6 demo. :D I got it from my brother on a floppy and played it on an old IBM laptop we had at that time I recall. I believed this was the 7th game in the franchise, not sure where I'd gotten that from, but I think maybe the game fold...

Re: Life under lockdown

Honestly I hate this situation because it feels incredibly unjust and hopeless. Without getting into politics, our government has not been doing a good job and people's safety and comfort have not at all been its primary priority. One of the most infuriating things to me has been the 9 pm curfew tha...

Re: How Do You Deal With Stress?

Music is my top cope. I love listening, singing, playing guitar (amateurishly). I play games sometimes, since I now have a computer capable of running the new stuff that I haven't seen/played yet. Hanging out with my family or friend also works great. I'm always on the lookout for more interesting t...

Re: Keen 4 Most Favorite Level?

I also think Isle of Tar is a great level. When I was a kid it used to be the most terrifying one for me. The platforming can be really nervewracking at times, there are blind drops into not-certain-but-quite-likely death, where the only clue of what awaits you is the tar-stained background. It trul...

Re: Keen 4 Most Favorite Level?

Is Crystalus receiving joke votes? :p Top pick is definitely Miragia for its uniqueness and pretty aesthetics and overall extremely chill atmosphere. Next would be Lifewater Oasis. Somehow that level has always felt cheeky and fun in a way. The jumping challenges, the secret bonus items under the sc...

Re: Keen 1 Redrawn

Oh this looks amazing. One issue I've always had with Keen 1 is that it doesn't feel very immersive. The graphics in the levels just don't make you feel like you're on Mars, the mysterious Earth-like planet that everybody wishes they could see. Especially the new ground tiles and the world map stuff...

My guess is you might need to flip a switch somewhere, which will allow the platforms to move further.

Re: Your most memorable level or place in Keen?

Seems like the Pyramid of the Forbidden would be a common mention for anyone who's played Keen 4 and found a way to get into the level, I guess. The very idea of it being "forbidden" and the sheer length and difficulty of it compared to the rest of the game seems exciting. Since the only K...

Re: What bands or musicians do you listen to?

Heh, it's been a while since I last responded to a music thread :) Artists I like a lot, in no particular order: Tame Impala, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, The Smiths, Rush, Prague, Cream, Dire Straits, Universe, Ozzy Osbourne, The Doors, Van Halen, Pink Floyd, The White Stripes, The Jimi Hendrix Experience...

Hey there, welcome. Unfamiliar as I may be with non-Keen games of the era, it's certainly great to see more people emerging to keep them alive. :)

That's a cool little graphic. Those were the special versions like 1.5 in Galaxy and I believe 1.32 or something in Vorticons, right?

I'm having some horrible health issues and no one is entirely sure why they're happening.

Good thoughts, plz? I'm just so tired and confused and want nothing more than to just crawl into bed and never come out.
Sincerely wishing you a speedy recovery, mate. :)

Re: Release of my unfinished mods - "Botafloria" and "Mura"

Hey ProYorp, thanks for checking this out. :) Cool how two of the songs seem to be slightly remixed versions of each other. If I'm not mistaken, GameBird did some music for this, correct? GameBird made all of the music except for Guile's Theme... :lol I tried making some original music of my own but...

Keen ain't dead as long as Doomguy is alive and breathing.
And Doomguy is eternal. :p
