Re: COSMO'S COSMIC ADVENTURE SOURCE CODE RECONSTRUCTED!

Yeah, I have NO experience with 8086 assembly language. I had to go in with a hex editor and severely truncate my story to fit within the established parameters. Not fun. There was always a risk that I would corrupt the entire program by pressing Backspace, moving every instruction out of alignment....

Re: COSMO'S COSMIC ADVENTURE SOURCE CODE RECONSTRUCTED!

I would be putting info of how the engine works up on the Modding Wiki, but all my avenues of logging in are gone. I wasn't banned or anything. To be honest, the Modding Wiki is very broken. I lost my password, and the files on the server have so many viruses that Google has blocked the e-mail servi...

COSMO'S COSMIC ADVENTURE SOURCE CODE RECONSTRUCTED!

https://github.com/smitelli/cosmore Yes, you read that right. This is NOT a joke! I am so grateful that this has happened. One Mr. Scott Smitelli has taken the time to look through the hex assembly of the game and reconstitute it into C (or C++, I'm not sure because I am not versed in either languag...

Re: Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure II: HUMANIZED!!! (W.I.P.)

Ok, I have good news and bad news. I don't have to truncate my story down as much as I previously needed to, possibly leading to corruption of the program if I accidentally press backspace in the hex editor I used before. Yeesh. Having to trim down my story before was not fun. The bad news (not so b...

Re: Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure II: HUMANIZED!!! (W.I.P.)

OK, I looked through the rebuilt code, and have made some discoveries: Like Commander Keen, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure has a demo recorder. It is activated by pressing F11 in debug mode. (TAB+DEL+F12) You have to start the game first, then activate debug mode, go back to the main menu, and press F11. ...

Re: Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure II: HUMANIZED!!! (W.I.P.)

I may get back to it, since now this opens up much more possibilities that I had planned before (Like a more-detailed story with proper formatting!), and I don't have to work within the confines of the original executable anymore! (Heck, if it doesn't rip out the guts of the program, one could UPGRA...

Re: Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure II: HUMANIZED!!! (W.I.P.)

The game is much simpler than I realized. How do I know that? It's finally happened. Someone reverse-engineered the game engine and reconstructed the source code...: https://github.com/smitelli/cosmore However, this could not have come at a worse time, because most of my artistic drive has been sapp...

Re: Atroxian Realm (Version 1.2 Released)

I'm hoping that Gridlock builds a new version/sends out an edited resource file for the game's story, because I made/remade 5 images last year, two new (one of which is technically a BIG glow-up) for the finale, one modified (because he's missing his ComputerWrist) for the finale, one modified (beca...

Re: Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure II: HUMANIZED!!! (W.I.P.)

I've taken two steps forward, one step back. I finalized the episode 1 tile optimization (not wasting space with duplicate or unneeded tiles), but I accidentally overwrote a file containing some enemy graphics (not much) for episode 3. Thankfully, I had a backup, that's about 60 percent finished, fr...

Re: Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure II: HUMANIZED!!! (W.I.P.)

It's amazing what you will find when you edit a game... FOUR of the collectable object graphics render upside down: Cyan and White Diamond Red Turtle-Shell-like jewel Blue Jewel with Patterned Center Gray Diamond (I corrected for this one, because I knew it was upside down before.) They're mostly fo...

Re: Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure II: HUMANIZED!!! (W.I.P.)

A ton of really early DOS games won't run correctly on fast Pentiums. A few games like Pharaoh's Tomb , Arctic Adventure , Monuments of Mars , Dark Ages , Halloween Harry etc. won't even start at all on 133 - 266 MHz Pentiums, so a Pentium III would be way too fast for those. Other games have some ...

Re: Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure II: HUMANIZED!!! (W.I.P.)

OK, been off the project for a while now. I've been working on other projects, one of which has been perpetually hitting a wall, but might help a whole bunch with the mod. I've built a custom MS-DOS Windows 98SE gaming rig! Now I can test the game in its native environment, without DOSBOX! (That's n...

Re: The Crazy Komet.

Much better. :disguised The only last detail you are missing is that the racing stripes extend up to the top fin, but not to the rocket engines on the back. Other than that, it's perfect!

Re: The Crazy Komet.

Ok. How's this? https://i.postimg.cc/ht3GsyMQ/ck4patch-041.png Please tell me if its still wrong because I do want to get it right. The engine units are close (the blue part is supposed to wrap around the back), but the battery core is not the right shape, and the laser barrels are still not the ri...
