Mods runnable in shareware versions?

Hey all, Nowadays there are various websites letting you play DOS games in your web browser, but they're all limited to the official releases and don't make it easy to edit the files involved like you can if you were to download the games instead. So I recently pieced together a javascript mod loade...

J1CS was an alternate name for JCS'94, later superseded by J1E.

edit: no idea what went wrong with the second link there

And I like how you used the unused Hocus items, what does umbrella exactly do? Nothing IIRC. It was supposed to be a shield, but none of the enemies got enough code to attack you with, so there was nothing for it to do. Anyway, it occurred to me that I actually had an entire custom level layout sit...

Re: [Release] Hocus Pocus Level editor

I must say making the editor was really fun for me, so I wonder why nobody have fully completed one in so many years. I think your Hocus Creation Station was the most-complete one among those I tried. Honestly, from what I recall I just got stuck figuring out UIs for some of the specialty files, pa...

Re: [Release] Hocus Pocus Level editor

Oh boy oh boy! I also ran into an editor called Hocus Creation Station, but it was quite hard to use and I don't think it could edit everything too. That was mine! Or rather, I started (but didn't finish) two or three separate HP level editors*, and I know one of them was called that but I don't rem...

Re: Dust: An Elysian Tale on Steam!

The game is by Dean, who is responsible for the Jazz 2 graphics. Only two tilesets, two enemies, the intro and ending cinematics, and the Lori sprites. Everything else was Nick Stadler. Unless he did the Holiday Hare '98 graphics too, which is possible, in which case three tilesets (and also editin...

Here's a link to them talking about the process of contacting the various musicians and companies. They're an established organization and have been doing this with other games for some time now. The rest I kind of agree with (although, uh, just because JJ3 was never finished doesn't mean that no m...

Fun fact: the Space Cadet pinball table that came with Windows is actually a stripped down version of one table from a (non-freeware) pinball table pack. The only difference I remember offhand is that the Windows version doesn't support multiball play, but I'm pretty sure there are others.

The C, T, Space cheat reference was particularly funny :lol I can't prove it, of course, but that one was mine. :o (Also I may or may not have indirectly led to the whole thing by suggesting something or other (unused) about Vorticons at the very start of the adventure, because the scenario was so ...

Wow, welcome to posting Violet CLM! 4 years 2 months without a post is quite a record. But... I've made ten other posts in that time! I've posted a Hocus Pocus music editing tool and abandoned fangame , talked about Jazz Jackrabbit, made a few random other posts -- where are you getting this zero n...

Pony Galaxy Adventure

Hey all; this isn't mine, but I thought you might appreciate a link. The suggestion-based tumblr story Pony Galaxy Adventure is currently doing a Keen parody/homage/whatever.
