Re: Planning to write a new keen 1-3 modding tutorial
Great idea! I started work on something like this more than 20 years ago but didn't finish it. Story of my life! What format is this going to take? Will you host your own website? Downloadable pdf? Podcast? Intrigued to see what form the minimalist mod takes, too. practice my writing skills So impor...

Bdrmm - "Microtonic" (2025).
Really really fantastic I have to say.

Re: Was Keen 4-6 a kids game?
Keen sits in the optimal part of the Venn diagram between adults and kids. It is a child-friendly universe but is neither pateonising nor infantilising. That said, in real terms, in 2025, adult engagement with Keen is rooted in a connection to a previous childhood, and is quite unlikely to be due to...

Re: Shadow keen 1 remake troubles
Ah yes I remember well the chaotic world of Shadow Keen! Episode 2 was my favourite. Followed by 3 and then 1. At the time I definitely wasn't aware of the degree of ripped-ness of graphics nor was I familiar with the sources (to be honest I still am not in many cases). How come ... a fixed version ...

Re: Inaccessible yellow key card in keen 3 1.0 level 10
Yeah that looks like a jump I'd put in one of my mods. Inadvertently in my early work; deliberately in later work. Doesn't look like that bad of a jump to me but depends how high stakes it is in terms of level progress. I guess someone should do the 1.0 version for completeness, though I'm pretty su...

Re: (un)known glitches and mechanics in keen
My childhood brain will have fed me distorted memories of "fly without cheating" working in ordinary play (I had some delightful "Keen dreams" in my day). But decades of hard experience in Vorticons brings absolute certainty that God Mode is needed. Otherwise, let's just say that...

Re: The LIVE music thread.
Went to see an up an coming Texan band that I'm quite fond of called "Being Dead", playing a show in London. The venue (MOTH club) could be classified as a smallish place with, to quote its website, "a relaxed, homey setting with a full bar menu." Well, upon arriving (late of cou...

Re: Last movie you saw
Just went yesterday to see "A Complete Unknown" the new movie about Bob Dylan's early years. Really enjoyed it immensely, being a huge fan of all things (well, almost all things) Dylan. It's an impeccably made retelling of one of the most iconic and inspiring origin stories in music histor...

Re: MILDLY NEAT -- For all your random Keenery needs!
@TheBigV what a cool premise! It's been a while since Keen played host to an external franchise but it's been done to great success in the past (I used to like the Zelda II mod by CheesyDave a lot. And of course Lego Keen is absolutely timeless). I think this is gonna be really neat!

Re: Prison Escape (development thread)
"Prison Escape" sounds like a great title/concept. And is actually somewhat uprecedented. Many mods (including one of my own) involve stories beginning with an escape from imprisonment but I can't think of many where the whole story is about the process of escaping. It's a cool topic and i...

Re: Keen 5 mod development thread (currently unnamed)
I would personally suggest that all but the most confident of visionaries start their modding journeys with a Vorticons mod. I also agree with the suggestion to seek out your inspiration. Whether it's something old or new on screen or off screen, there's going to be something exciting to you that yo...

There's a restaurant in London called "314 Kitchen + Bar".
Which is all the more notable because less than one minute's walk away there is an alley called "Keen's Yard".
