Re: How Do You Deal With Stress?

Stress comes from many sources. Stress can come from within - proYorp has given some vivid detail om this. Some of us are lucky to suffer less stress from within than others. However, regardless, the stress that comes from the life one is leading can be huge. It is multilayered, with the immediate e...

Re: The Shadowlands (Keen 4 fan-shrine)

Exceptionally neat find! Love the Keen shrine, the windows 98 "web page" folder (though I hate those in real life) and the Make The Web Great Again article.

Re: Keen 1 Redrawn

Amazing. Those are top of the range pillars. Your use of colour is excellent, you're really getting EGA to punch above its weight.

Re: First Keen mod you played

I started out with Xky's Episode X. It would have been the start of 2003. It blew me away. I hadn't even played Keen2 or Keen3 at that point, but X just oozed quality and defined modding as a platform for polished productions rather than trivial efforts. Of course, people like me soon tarnished that...

Re: Avg. Difficulty of Keen1 of series?

I find beauty in those simple platforming elements in Keen1. After all, progress in gaming was so rapid back then that those primordial days of early 90s PC gaming passed in the blink of an eye.... imagine being a preteen back then for instance. (Some of you maybe were; I was just getting born). You...

Re: Corrupt A Wish game

Granted. Despite all this power, flaws in your own decision making capabilities and impulses render you just as powerless as before.

I wish that I was reading a copy of "Be Careful What You Wish For" by R.L. Stine.

Re: What Music Are You Listening To?

ABBA - "Don't Shut Me Down".

It's unbelievably nice to hear these guys doing their thing once more. ABBA Gold was the soundtrack to my first encounters of Commander Keen all those years ago.

Re: Life under lockdown

Interesting. We're not yet onto booosters in UK.

Are there many liberties in Israel requiring double-jab vaxx?

And are there now going to be things you can only do with booster (but not allowed with just the two jabs)?

Re: Misconceptions

I always said "shik-a-DIE".

I imagine people from different countries naturally say it differently. It would be interesting to study this.

Re: Life under lockdown

I think curfews are incredibly unhelpful and there are better ways to reduce interactiom between people without enforcing restriction of movement to that degree. This also applies to distance radii. Thankfully the UK hasn't gone in for this but back home in Ireland (as well as down in Australia wher...

Re: Stupid References are stupid

This is maybe more of a subjective experience remniscent of Keen. Rather than a full fledged stupid reference is stupid. But the David Bowie song "What In The World" from "Low" sounds like Keen is in there, endlessly being pushed around by yorps. What do you think?

Re: Keen 1 Redrawn

This gave me a pang of nostalgia... the first thing I ever did in Modkeen was change the pale grey background to yellow. It looked a lot like your screengrabs... this of course gave rise to "Vanished to Venus". Leaving that vignette aside, I like Nisaba's suggestion. It's hard to know what...
