Re: Snow

I have played Ice-Keen and in fact it was one of the main inspirations for my most recent mod which I released later that same year (hoh garg that's five years ago almost)

Snow

Does snow make people think of Commander Keen? Or is it just me? Not sure why it makes me think of Keen. It doesn't snow much in Ireland and I don't think there was any snow at all in the years when I was getting into Keen. I was always in particular fond of the ice levels in Keen1, probably more th...

Re: Anybody here?

My Keening involvement consists of reading every thread on pckf, occasionally posting, and thinking "well if I ever find myself living alone and jobless/on annual leave I will make another Keen1 mod"... could happen sooner than you think...

Re: What Music Are You Listening To?

Haha Pantera was the first thing that came to my mind before clicking the link... I also love 'Forever Tonight'. Exquisite guitar from Dime on this one as always - the one thing that unifies all Pantera material from beginning to end.

Re: Planet Of Agony (Keen 1 mod)

Wow I like this!! Just realised I havent downloaded/installed any software on my computer in over a year, so you (and the people who make DosBox) should feel honoured! I like what I've played so far. Reminds me a tiny bit of KeenX. But, as it is a KeenRush mod, I feel on edge, expecting distressing ...

Re: What Music Are You Listening To?

Once again a week of on-call night shifts rolls around and Benvolio gets quite anxious. To settle the nerves beforehand he grabs a strong coffee, lights up a cigarette on his balcony and selects a few so-called golden oldies with which to accompany his pharmacologic relaxation routine... https://www...

Re: Classic cars

I love cars of all eras but actually would have far more interest in late 70s and 1980s cars. I see no reason why automobile design had to pursue a trajectory from the cars of 1990 and the vehicles we see today. Interestinly Ireland has a unique feature in its number plates where the year of first r...

Re: OFF TOPIC THREAD: Where derailing the thread is impossible!

Fascinating, I never heard that vid before. Sounds to me like he mixed in some Keen6 music with Keen5 music. Amazing that he played it from distant memory... there's probably a few keen tunes I could play from similarly remote memories. When I was about ten, I did make a recording of the Fribbulous ...

Re: Difficulty vs Opportunity in Keen 1: Number Crunching

Yes I remember well. I indulged in them myself too... on Andy's KeenWright of course. First it was "create new level 200x200" *game crashes*. Then 'F' for fill the whole level with lollipops *game crashes*. Eventually "here's 500 ammo, now fight these 50 Vorticons". A true golden era...

Re: Something I just noticed after a quarter century of playing: strutting!

ROFL! I actually did notice this when I was a kid playing Keen1. I was directly reminded of the ice (the slow one obviously) tile, although i think the movement whilst pressing up is more rapid than the movement on the ice in Keen1. But I don't think anybody's ever discussed it on forums. I never in...

Nirvana MIDI files...

Stumbled across MIDIs of Nirvana songs on YT.

Were these around in the 1990s?

Thought some of these might appeal to keeners seeing as they sound like Keen music
