Re: Anyone have Invasion of the Vorticons mail order floppy?

Hi springpop and welcome to PCKF. Doesnt look like anybody noticed your topic. I don't own that disk (and lamentably I cannot find the magazine 5 1/4 disk I had Keen1 on). It does sound like a bizzarre thing that happened to you/your disk. Have you any pictures to show us??? It would be interesting ...

Re: Your most memorable level or place in Keen?

Yeah I too had a particular fascination with the Keen6 demo levels presumably because of the hallowed status of Keen6 as a slightly forbidden game. I was particularly fond of the Bloogton Manufacturing level and I think it inspired a lot of my long vertical levels from my mods. I also thought Guard ...

One obscure artist I've found is known as Klereherrie.
Just went back and had another look... my favourite is that Eiffel 65 cover on the floppy drives.

Re: What Music Are You Listening To?

Soon I will endeavour to check all of those out! But today, in Ireland we have the rather foolish tradition of calling the 1st of February the start of spring... clearly this is not in keeping with 21st century climate patterns. At any rate, this song comes to mind - the emotionally harrowing conten...

Re: Joystick and Gravis Gamepad

Thanks for links. Looks a little to unwieldy a way to play keen for my tastes. Although I acknowledge that the German guy is still figuring out what he is doing. I would personally have had more interest using them in driving or flying games for example, where I would imaging the physical nature of ...

Re: OFF TOPIC THREAD: Where derailing the thread is impossible!

Fantastic piece of work. I love Aussie creativity, most of the best original and fanfic type stuff seems to originate down there these days. I wonder are the makers of it PCKFers? Whilst here I am prompted by the paltry flutter of snow that London has awoken to this morning, to say that I hope all i...

Re: New category along with Admins and Global Moderators

Not opposed to your idea but genuinely wondering is there enough traffic on this site these days to warrant more than a small handful of mods (moderators I mean! We definitely need more mods! :P) ?

Re: Joystick and Gravis Gamepad

I would genuinely be interested if you or someone could do a Youtube Video (with camera showing joystick) to give an idea of how it works and how different the gameplay is.

Re: Is Commander Keen music weak?

To me the Keen music forms a collection of culturally seminal tunes and I regard them as essential parts of video game lore - that doesnt mean they are excellent in quality. I have particular fondness for the music from the Keen6 demo levels including the rarely mentioned bluesy tune from the Guard ...

Re: Joystick and Gravis Gamepad

I wonder how many Keeners (or people in general over the past 29 years) have used these devices in any serious way for playing Keen. I certainly have never seen either a joystick or a Gravis Gamepad in real life.

Re: Sunstriker Mods "Fireblaze: Curse of the Dragonlords"

Gave this a bit of a play and in doing so, unearthed just how rusty I am at playing Keen. Anyway my impression is this is a reasonably well-presented piece of work into which quite a lot of work went - new font, well written story text and of course some good levels and a nice map. I always hate to ...

Re: Happy New Year 2019!

How many of you and/or the cultures from which you come celebrate something on the 6th of January? It is observed across the world in different ways but I gather in Irish culture it may be taken particular note of traditionally. Its usual name in Ireland is either Little Christmas, or else "Nollaig ...

Re: The things/places in Keen you were most afraid of?

Excellent thread. Of the above, the one I empathise with most is the lightning clouds in the Chasm, which I, too, felt as though there were hundreds of. Overall, having missed out on playing Keen in early childhood (even though the diskette was just sitting there in my dad's study since the year of ...
