Re: Stupid References are stupid

The Kidd name seems appropriate, actually. And the colour matching Billy's sneakers.

Imagine a time travel Keen game. Like, Mort travels back in time and Keen gives chase with a few quick modifications to the BwB.

Re: What game are you currently playing?

Yes mobile games do count.

Can be any device, whether PC, console and vice versa.

Okay, well, I've sunk an upsetting-to-ponder number of hours in Pokemon TCG Pocket over the past year.

A few months back I got very into Stacklands, which is fun but really not that challenging. Occupies the ...

Yeah, as Roobar says, it's wild they're running at all.

If you don't feel up for the fiddle of creating a VM, you can run the games through DOSBox; a cross-platform, cross-architecture emulator which does a decent job: https://www.dosbox.com/

Re: Fan-art thread

ooh, I love when this thread is active. Nice work jmfmagnum and Johnnyrange. (Nisaba too, if that's not AI. So sorry if that qualification is totally unwarranted; some art style have been horribly mistreated by that mess.)

jmf, I'm a big fan both of the Vorticon and the now-forearm computer! It ...

Once I revive my PC, I'll be playing Fallout 76 for the first time with a friend who got me the game. Excited for that!

Re: Corrupt A Wish game

Granted. But the very first wish to come to mind is the erasure of Commander Keen from history. As your wish was granted via a forum for that now-missing game, you find yourself stuck in paradox purgatory, flitting between realities where you both did and did not make that wish. It's a deserved fate ...

Re: The LIVE music thread.

Checkpoint seem to be foregoing UK and Ireland, possibly reflecting the significant difficulty non-europeans face getting a CTA visa as well as Schengen (or vice versa).
Yeah, that'd do it. Plus the UK is even less trans-friendly these days, which might be an issue for some in the band's circle ...

Re: The LIVE music thread.

Those in Europe: a heads up that a couple of my favourite very local bands are touring parts of your continent soon!

Based on past discussions, I think at least a few of you will like these acts.

Re: Was Keen 4-6 a kids game?

The context in which they were made was also very different, with a lot more small and self-publishers allowing a much less corporate review process and a lot more to sneak in.

Have been thinking a little about this the last couple days and I'm revising this part – kids' cartoons then also ...

Re: Was Keen 4-6 a kids game?

Thanks for posting those comparisons, Nisaba - I'd not made the connection!

On whether Keen was a game for kids: apart from early learning software, what constituted a game for children was VERY different in the 90s to now, and the number and nature of adults playing games was also very different ...

I feel 80-100 FPS is much higher than the FPS the average contemporary system could manage for the OG release. Inauthentic!

Re: I'm working on a new keen 1-3 modding tutorial

This is neat.

Can I suggest we move this topic into Unofficial Keen Games? Would hate for it to get lost in misc's garg, and I feel that's a better fit anyway.
