Re: Classic Arcade Games

I didn't play arcades in my days, just was watching others play, mostly remember Street Fighter 2, Samurai Shodown and World Heroes. So arcade games to play I met with emulators/Retropie/made myself arcade tabletop. Should I list my endless favs, or is this only for true arcade players? By all mean...

Re: Classic Arcade Games

That's a pretty good list! I never really got much chance to play the classics when I was a kid, as there weren't many places in the area that had them save for one or two tucked away in a corner store (and they'd be something like a racing or fighting title that I thought was boring). One that I d...

Re: Commander Keen: the comic strip

Oh man, I haven't seen these comics in years. I remember when I first came across these back in the early 2010s and enjoying them. Not sure if it's intentional or not, but the art style sort of reminds me of Calvin & Hobbes. But anyway, it's great to see these are coming back, and I look forward...

When I get some time I look forward to playing through this.

Also, congratulations on your new member of the family!

Re: What Music Are You Listening To?

Where did you find these "locker leaks"? In order for me to tell you where I got them, I have to tell you the story of how it happened. I'll try my best to sum it up and just give you the short and dirty of it, but there's a lot to this story. So, back in 2019 some guy bought a storage lo...

Re: YouTube Automatically Privating Unlisted Videos Soon

I swear, Youtube is just getting worse and worse. Stuff like this is why I'm very slowly moving away from the site.

Also, Thanks for mentioning the download site. You just helped me out immensely.

Re: What Music Are You Listening To?

I first heard Guns N' Roses when I watched their video for Welcome to the Jungle . Contrary to popular belief the video premiered on MTV's Headbangers Ball 6 months+ before it hit radio stations and even before MTV started airing the video during the day. I remember guys getting all excited about G...

Re: Plot of Shadowlands episodes 4-9 revealed!

If anyone decides to complete the rest of the series one day, I would love to provide some voice over for it. There's a few characters from the series who I can do decent impressions of as well, such as the Arachnuts, Duke Mushroom (who's voice is clearly an impression of Wakko from Animaniacs), the...

Re: Running Windows 95 Games On a Modern OS

It would be nice if Dosbox ran 95 natively. It does a great job with 3.11 which is incredibly good fun. Never tried 95. Would really love to hear how you achieve it if you do. I'm still reading up on it to see if it's even possible, but if I succeed, I'll certainly be posting instructions on here f...

Re: My keen childhood "trauma"

As a kid, I found the Arachnuts pretty terrifying. I used to play on easy, so I didn't come across them very often, but when I did, I was always scared of them because they have that frantic movement to them where their mouths are constantly flailing around and they scuttle around so fast. Not only ...

Re: Misconceptions

When I was a little kid, I used to think that an Arachnut's eyes were actually scraps of food that had fallen on its body. I didn't
realize they were eyes until years later when I actually stopped and looked at the creature instead of frantically trying to shoot it
or run away.

Re: Running Windows 95 Games On a Modern OS

So, I've been doing research on this, and I guess some people were able to create a virtual machine to run Windows 95 in Dosbox?
Is this something anyone on here has experience with or has attempted? Gonna try to do this myself.

Well, that made for an interesting read. Thanks for posting this. Also, when you've had some time to get acquainted with how to use linux, PLEASE write about your experience using it. I too have become increasingly disenchanted with Windows and am seriously considering gradually moving over to linux...

Re: Your most memorable level or place in Keen?

I think that, no matter what point in ones childhood one first explored Keen games, that period of your life will be ringfenced by the brain as a "wonderful and simpler time". For me I feel that effect with Keen perhaps even more strongly than with some of the other typical childhood obse...

Re: What Music Are You Listening To?

Currently listening to the Guns N' Roses locker leaks from 2019 (it's a long story). It just shows how much wasted potential the new lineup had in the early 2000s if Chinese Democracy had been released while people were still interested. I mean, there's like 2-3 albums worth of material just on thes...
