Re: Keen 6 Apogee Demo Version

Also interesting that the sell sheet specifically places this game in between the Vorticons trilogy and Goodbye Galaxy. I'm not on a PC capable of checking at the moment, but is there any actual mention of Aliens being the sixth Keen game within the game itself (aside from any post-exit ordering sc...

Re: Keen 6 Apogee Demo Version

That's so cool what you have there! Thank you for sharing it with the community! You are welcome! That's a really interesting find. I had always assumed Keen 6 being stand-alone and the publisher being FormGen instead of Apogee were all a part of the same decision, though the Keen 6 sell sheet sugg...

Keen 6 Apogee Demo Version

I came across an Apogee bonus disk that included a demo version of Keen 6. I got it second hand, so I do not know the original story behind this floppy disk. To my surprise the version included on the disk is ever so slightly different from the most common FormGen demo version. I haven't taken a dee...

A couple of bugs are known to be fixed in Keen 5 here. The "Order info" section is removed from the list of sections available by pressing on F1 (in Keen 4 and 5 altogether), but the list itself is there as usual. When one thinks about it, it may seem a bit weird the same was not done for...

Sweet, thanks for sharing this! By the way, the included VENDOR.DOC mentions the original file name as being KEEND120.EXE.

According to the 20th anniversary look back , the games were finished in the order 4, 6 and 5. There's no doubt regarding the fact that Keen 5 was finished last, but Keen 6 certainly seems to use an older code base than Keen 4 does. But I don't think Keen 6 as coded first. I think the suggested reas...

The only difference is that some of the included text files that can be read at start-up have been updated with some other info. And calling that version the "id Anthology" version isn't entirely correct either since it's the same thing that you could purchase from the Softdisk store a few...

Wasn't there some concept art of the Dopefish floating around that had a note on it saying that some kind of trident power was necessary if you wanted to swim? They probably planned that the power was to be obtained in another level.

What intrigues me, again in the same area, is that pair of exit signs (or the lower halves of exit signs.) The one on the left just looks like the usual brown-earth sign in the foreground, but the one on the right is clearly meant to be attached to some kind of metal floor. There's no other indicat...

Thank you! Now the file modify dates are correct and this rarity can be preserved in the way it deserves to be. ;)

I'm having no luck, even with the time tab. When I extract it still says created right now. Yes but it will still save the time inside the archive itself. The problem is that once it gets extracted the file is recreated hence the date gets updated. But if you upload that RAR file I will attempt to ...

If you have WinRAR installed (get it here ), it is merely a matter of highlighting/selecting the files on the floppy disk, right-clicking and choosing "Add to archive..." (with the WinRAR logo on the left), pressing browse on the first screen since you probably don't want to save the archi...

7-zip doesn't support storing file creation dates, but WinRAR can if you enable a certain option. Whilst making the archive, go to the "Time" tab and check "Store creation time". It requires you to have the archive saved as a RAR, naturally. After this transferring over the creat...

File modify dates shouldn't change when files are copied over, they usually only change when the file is actually modified. If you check the rest of the files, their modify dates are still in the 1991-1993 range. This might be a lot to ask, but since your friend is possibly one of a handful people w...
