Re: The new new music thread
Oh hey wasn't expecting to see anyone mention my music here :D I've been meaning to post more songs to my MIDI collection but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I make them as tracker music first and then convert them to MIDI (but I use instruments from a soundfont so it sounds pretty much the same ...

Re: Next Keen Awards (2024) - advice needed
I feel like the best option would to just create the year long thread, and let people do the hashtag thing alongside that thread if they're that committed to the idea. Everyone wins that way (except the people that think nominations should only last a month...)

Re: Free to use Keen graphics thread
This is a great idea for a topic! It instantly reminded me of the "Unused graphics" thread, which is also a goldmine for quality graphics (I'd still love to see that green-and-blue background used someday). I'm glad to see the idea get revived! Heh, that topic was at the back of my mind w...

Re: Free to use Keen graphics thread
Cool graphics! While these wouldn't really be of any use in a standard EGA Keen mod, several months ago I made some Doom textures using various Keen background/foreground patterns as a base. I imagine these could also be repurposed for a theoretical VGA version of Keen Galaxy (probably with a more K...

Free to use Keen graphics thread
In this thread, you can post graphics you made (tiles, sprites, etc) that anyone is allowed to put into their Keen projects, as long as you give credit to the artist. If you're making an edit to an existing graphic by someone else, be sure to credit the source of the original graphic. I'll start wit...

Re: Are "source code mods" mods or fangames?
Oh hey, there's a fangame pictorial list now, cool! While I, like Malvineous, love seeing stuff made from tough limitations, I feel like only defining mods as stuff that works with such limits is a bit too narrow. I agree with everything Gridlock said. Also the GBA ports should be considered ports, ...

Re: Are "source code mods" mods or fangames?
Well of course not everyone knows C, but it's certainly more accessible than x86 machine code. :p If someone's just making a few small changes like starting with the pogo in Keen 1, CKPatch is probably simpler, but when you're getting into the real heavy changes, (relatively) far more people could d...

Re: Are "source code mods" mods or fangames?
Ehh, while patching is somewhat more limited than source code modding, you can theoretically do anything with it: If you're insane enough and have inhuman x86 Assembly skills, you could recreate Atroxian Realm with just CKPatch. It's just much more practical to use C source code instead. A lot of th...

Re: KeenWiki: Unresolved issues and missing downloads
The source code mods pictorial list is long overdue, thanks for adding it! Should Netkeen also be filed under that?

Re: Happy Keen Day (2024)
This year will mark the 10th anniversary of my modding career. I hope that this year will finally be the one where I finish a mod, however I'm also way too distracted with Doom mapping at the moment. :P Regardless of whether I not I finish something, I do plan on releasing a package of almost every ...

Re: Keen Awards 2023: Nominations
I'm not so sure about the hashtag idea, it sounds a bit contrived. I think a year long thread is the best solution.

Re: Keen Awards 2023: Nominations
Here's a suggestion for next year's Keen Awards: I think the nominations thread should run year-long instead of only at the end of the year. That way people can nominate stuff as soon as it comes out and not have to try and remember every cool thing that released in a year.

I played God Of Thunder as a kid, it's a neat game.
