Re: [WIP] Commander Keen: Galaxy Reimagined
It's the most insane project after Nisaba's FITF! In fairness, not every level will be recreated (and those that are are simply inspired by the theme / maybe some elements of the original levels, rather than being anything close to a remake). For example, in the Shadowlands map I posted above, you ...

Re: [WIP] Commander Keen: Galaxy Reimagined
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/307596248620335104/1195885613229031424/image.png There seemed to be an impression on Discord that this game would only cover Secret of the Oracle. This is not the case. It's Galaxy Reimagined, not Oracle Reimagined. ;) I have mostly implemented Keen 4 stuff so...

Re: [WIP] Commander Keen: Galaxy Reimagined
I'm now at four levels (plus the Shadowlands map and BWB megarocket) complete, with work started on a fifth. One thing I'm doing in this pack is, much like in Keen 1, you won't start with the pogo or neural stunner. You'll need to find them in levels. Some levels won't be possible to complete withou...

Re: [WIP] Commander Keen: Galaxy Reimagined
The Shadowlands in Galaxy Reimagined. There are less levels, but that will be made up for in other ways. Also, the general concepts of some of the missing levels will be integrated into other levels instead.

[WIP] Commander Keen: Galaxy Reimagined (Demo now available)
So, I think it's time to finally reveal my project (beyond a few random screenshots / no-context vids I shared on the Discord). ------ Demo 3 download (Windows only, requires .NET 7.0): https://nv.wtf/GalaxyReimaginedDemo-240328.zip The demo allows you to play six levels (not including the world map...

Re: Are the games' physics documented anywhere?
That would explain it! My code handles walking off a ledge in the same way as jumping while walking (which preserves his momentum from walking). While it does indeed have a deceleration similar to what you describe (albeit with different numbers), this means that he's going full speed forward when w...

Re: Are the games' physics documented anywhere?
How does horizontal momentum when walking off a ledge work? If I hold right, Keen continues moving forward at (roughly?) the same speed. If I just slightly tap and don't hold it once he's off the edge, he falls basically straight down. The code I came up with for jumping / falling otherwise feels ri...

Re: Are the games' physics documented anywhere?
I'll have to take a look at those. Was aware of the reconstructed code, but I'm not the best with C and C++ (I'm mostly experienced with Pascal and C#). I ask because I was thinking about making an own-engine fangame, primarily as practice developing a platformer type game, and while I'd ultimately ...

Re: Are the games' physics documented anywhere?
EDIT: Also, are the hitboxes in LIST.TXT from KeenGraph inclusive or exclusive of the bottom-right corner? EG: If the file were to specify (2,2,4,4), is that a 2x2 hitbox or a 3x3 hitbox? Some experimentation has lead me to believe they are inclusive (ie: the provided example would be a 3x3 hitbox).

Are the games' physics documented anywhere?
Not sure if physics is the right word (it's the term used in the Lemmings community but not sure if it's commonplace to use it like that) but like, the behavior of various entities and so on, how they move etc. I know if all else fails there's Commander Genius source code or the reimplementation of ...

Re: Keen 4's choices in assigning music to levels...
Yeah, that's a fair point that it does fit the levels very well. It would have been nice if it was a bit longer / more varied though. Funnily enough, the level I first think of when thinking about that music is one that doesn't even use it - Sand Yego. For some reason I always think it used that mus...

Keen 4's choices in assigning music to levels...
I was just thinking about the music "Too Hot" and how it plays in so many levels, despite being a very short loop compared to the other three level musics, many of them among the longer levels, while the longer tracks mostly get left for the shorter levels. You've got to wonder how much th...

Re: Pyramid of the Forbidden on Hard
I got the platinum relic on Stormy Ascent in the Crash remakes, so I'm sure with enough persistence I could do this. Whether I want to or not is another matter... As is how many attempts it would take.

Re: Lemmings 3D clone for modern PCs
I just uploaded a new update that fixes those issues (as well as an obscure bug with the basher, and it implements the minimap). If installing over your existing copy, delete the "hotkeys.lpmi" file (as some, though not all, of the issues were due to incorrect default hotkeys - Loap will s...

Re: Lemmings 3D clone for modern PCs
Yeah really cool! I wonder why Pixelmusement didn't mentioned this in his latest video. Is there a way to change keys? Why A moves to the right and D moves to the left? I haven't used the keyboard controls in a long time; I might have mixed them up when implementing configurable rather than hardcod...
