What Hocus Pocus does to make OPL-music sound good?

Well, I and probably many of you always thought that Hocus Pocus OPL music always sounded very good - what I exactly mean, it sounds "deep" and "warm", sort of like it was played in "sound-surround" mode (in comparison to other games, whose OPL music sounds rather "flat"). The music seems to be play...

That resulting midi sounds really nice. You manually set the instruments, didn't you? Are you going to convert more?

Also setting and finding good OPL instruments is hard, at least for me. I admire some DOS game creators for what they managed to do with OPL.

OK, thank you guys for your replies. I must admit I haven't played or liked all the popular classic games as well, for example I have played Jazz Jackrabbit or Duke Nukem 2 very few in my life. But I'm really a big fan of VGFM and I still believe there's someone over here who likes it too but probab...

That's some solid coding, love it, brilliant. Thank you, Levellass! Btw I see that this game is probably not so much popular and well-known among people there and overally, as I originally thought. Concluding from very poor feedback and interest in modding of this game. So do you, who read this pos...

[Release] Vinyl Goddess from Mars Level editor + level pack

Hello again! It's time to announce another level editor from my hands: Vinyl Goddess from Mars level editor! Vinyl Goddess from Mars is another great game of my childhood, just like Hocus Pocus. I liked it especially for its awesome and jungle-themed graphics, catchy music, dynamic gameplay and of c...

Even if I have set the path to Dosbox and the game in HocusEditor.ini, when I try to test it, it still says that it cannot find Dosbox. :confused Hmmm. This is what I have in my HocusEditor.ini, it works pretty well: DosboxPath=D:\DOSBox-0.72\DOSBox\dosbox.exe Probably you don't have the dosbox.exe...

I tried your abandoned fangame, it's actually a reimplementation of Hocus Pocus, looks awesome and interesting. However it's easy to die by getting out of the map. And I like how you used the unused Hocus items, what does umbrella exactly do? Again I'd like to ask whether it is possible to send me t...

Re: [Release] Hocus Pocus Level editor

Oh boy oh boy! I also ran into an editor called Hocus Creation Station, but it was quite hard to use and I don't think it could edit everything too. That was mine! Or rather, I started (but didn't finish) two or three separate HP level editors*, and I know one of them was called that but I don't re...
