Re: Welcome to the migrated PCKF!

Unfortunately that appears to be a phpBB bug. There are several solutions in that thread, so I'll need to make sure that they don't break anything and then apply one to our installation if appropriate.

Re: Welcome to the migrated PCKF!

OK, thanks to VitaminZach, the extra nameservers have been removed. Queries for pckf.com will now always return the new address and therefore show this forum. The redirect is again in place, but still 302. Let me know if there are any issues, and if you're completely unable to access the PCKF, you c...

Re: Welcome to the migrated PCKF!

Ah, it looks like the two old nameservers are still there, so sometimes clients will ask the old (wrong) ones, and sometimes they'll ask the new ones, which will give the correct answer. Fortunately, we're still in the 302 phase, so I just disabled the redirect for now and will contact VitaminZach t...

Re: Welcome to the migrated PCKF!

OK, phpBB is now on board with the domain change. The old domain redirects (302 for the moment) to pckf.com, which is where I'm posting this from. Since the domain move will log everyone out anyway, I also took the opportunity to switch cookies over to secure-only. It should be OK now to change exte...

Re: Welcome to the migrated PCKF!

Thanks to the reminder from Rorie here , I checked on the pckf.com domain situation. Apparently VitaminZach did at some point along the line get the name servers updated, so we do now control the display of pckf.com! I just now got an SSL certificate for it and the PCKF should be accessible there. C...

Re: Idea for revitalizing the level pack scene

At least as a start, I can see that being implemented as a barebones version of an episode that only has some generic-looking platforms and hazards and the exit. It would be playable though drab, but it could be converted to any episode of that series. There would be a mapping from the generic tiles...

Re: Idea for revitalizing the level pack scene

Thanks everyone for the great discussion! It looks like there's a lot of interest in the collaborative features. I can't say I expected that, but I can certainly see that it would be great to get some more teamwork going on. I'd definitely make sure to flesh out the cooperative features. I think the...

Idea for revitalizing the level pack scene

In case people don't check Keen Modding frequently, or don't have an account there to post, I thought I'd link this idea here too. TL;DR it would be an easy, streamlined, web-powered system for people to publish and play individual custom Keen levels. Since building it would be a decent amount of wo...

Re: News about my new mod...

Ouch, sorry about the level loss. You might be interested in Dropbox, which automatically uploads all changed files to their cloud and keeps a version history for the past 30 days on the free tier. Windows has a File History feature that does roughly the same thing onto another disk, but it can be f...

Re: Welcome to the migrated PCKF!

Fixed now - copying the permissions from the working Modding link made this one work too. Thanks for the report!

Re: Welcome to the migrated PCKF!

That's strange; it's working for me and Chrome sees it as a direct link to the KeenWiki. Could you please try a hard reload (Ctrl+F5) to see if that fixes it?

Re: Welcome to the migrated PCKF!

Yep, there is now! Hopefully the forum's index reshuffling isn't too jarring - I think the preservation of the Modding link as the last entry in the Commander Keen category is important for a reference point, but if things could be improved, just let me know.

Re: Welcome to the migrated PCKF!

Huh, that's pretty weird. I wonder if some kind of caching was inconsistent across the HTTP and HTTPS pages. In other news, both PCKF and K:M now require HTTPS (i.e. have permanent redirects in place). The next step is to get cookies set as secure-only - this will prevent an attacker from grabbing y...

Ouch. Human greed ruins a lot of things. :(

Here's hoping a new opportunity comes around.
