Re: Welcome to the migrated PCKF!

The 302 redirect experiment is over on this domain - did anyone have trouble accessing this forum? Having an external links section would be neat. Also, now that we're on phpBB 3, I believe we have the option of sub-subforums, so Commander Genius could be placed under Unofficial Keen Games. Would th...

Re: Political Thread Discussion

Hey everyone, This is just a friendly reminder that we have people from all over the political spectrum here. It's sometimes easy to accidentally gather a critical mass of Ingroup Opinion and thereby make other users feel unwelcome. Therefore, I'd suggest directing any criticism at actions rather th...

Re: [v2.9.2] Abiathar: The superior Keen Galaxy editor

Thank you!

I just noticed a crash bug in the New Project Wizard's advanced mode that was introduced in v2.9 (whoops), so I pushed out v2.9.2, which fixes that. Here's the ZIP.

Re: [v2.9.1] Abiathar: The superior Keen Galaxy editor

UPDATE v2.9.1: more small improvements Lone Editing mode has been finagled in a couple of ways. When it's active, unhiding hidden planes just turns them visible instead of active so that you don't wind up with multiple active planes. The paste preview no longer loses track of which planes are being...

Re: Welcome to the migrated PCKF!

Non-secure requests are now being temporarily redirected to HTTPS both here and on KM. This will continue for a few days, after which I will disable it in case anybody was unable to access the forums. If there are no problems, I will reinstate the redirect as a permanent change. Adding custom profil...

Re: Welcome to the migrated PCKF!

Most people's avatars are served over HTTP, so browsers don't consider the whole page secure. Your credentials, along with the other page contents, are transferred securely.

Re: Welcome to the migrated PCKF!

I haven't forgotten about this; it turns out phpBB CSS is tricky because there are actually a ton of CSS files that get merged into one, then served to the client. Also, caching makes it more challenging. In other news, I'd like to get the forums HTTPS-only, for everyone's security. If you're not al...

Oh, I thought that was the explanation for why the orb doesn't break. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: The Alphamatic (An Atroxian Realm Mini-Sequel)

I forgot to mention in my last post that the dialog was amazing. As someone who doesn't usually care about the story in mods, I really appreciated the characters having personality. Maybe a small easter egg (I'm surprised you didn't notice it) Oh, haha, not sure how I missed that. Nice :) This is an...

Re: The Alphamatic (An Atroxian Realm Mini-Sequel)

I finished the full release on Normal a few days ago. It was very good! I think the cleverest design was the Quantum Chambers: a neat idea, and well executed. The two chase levels were also fun, and I think also novel for Galaxy mods. In general, I never felt lost, though there was plenty to explore...

Re: Early Atroxian Realm Sequel Thoughts

A cursory poke-around in the Omnispeak source seems to indicate that it uses the native memory allocation functions, so there should be no trouble with address space. The memory manager still has the concept of "blocks," which I think are slots for dynamically allocated objects in memory that store ...

Re: Early Atroxian Realm Sequel Thoughts

I would love an Atroxian Realm sequel! I've replayed AR multiple times since its release because it's so good . Of course, I understand if scheduling doesn't permit the production of another huge mod like that. Personally, I'd like it to stick with the Dreams source engine if possible. That guarante...

I would also prefer no ammo.

In the less practical department, will the graphics for the teleporter be adjusted? It looks a little jarring to put the teleporter (which has a black background) in a space with the gray background.

Re: Keen2 insane minimalism level competition/collection (final deadline Sept 20th)

Thanks for taking initiative, Levellass! Just like last time, I put together a workspace that functions correctly on any modern Windows version. Download it here. You'll need to supply your own KEEN2.EXE, but everything else is included. Use the provided Abiathar editor to edit k2.adeps. To convert ...

Re: The Alphamatic

The newest version of CKPatch doesn't need the EXE to be pre-UNLZEXE'd. I just tested it on a fresh Keen 5 executable and it worked. You can get the newest version from KeenWiki , or use the one that Abiathar spits out. I realized just now that I never needed an UNLZEXE feature in Abiathar because i...
