If the tools aren't organised very well, maybe you can come up with some suggestions of ways to organise them better? The list of Vorticon tools for instance is broken up into subcategories, like audio editors or level editors, but does this not help when you are looking for something in particular?...

Hi all, I did post a full copy of the KeenWiki back in September which I'd recommend you download if you want a copy of everything up until then. I'd also like to politely ask that you don't use wget or similar to scrape every page off the wiki, because MediaWiki is a particularly big beast, and req...

As far as I can tell it goes left-to-right, top-to-bottom. There's a castle (final) level and I'm not sure whether that is treated specially or not. If you need to swap levels around, you can right-click on the level item (in the item list on the left) to save it to a file or overwrite the level fro...

Secret Agent level editor (Camoto update)
Hi all, Just in case anyone is interested in modding Secret Agent, I have just released an updated version of the Windows release of Camoto which can edit Secret Agent levels. For those who didn't see my post on the 3D Realms forum, I've also released a one-level mod as a test just to make sure ever...

Oh just in case anyone stumbles across this in future, a kind soul on the Xentax forum was able to reverse engineer the compression algorithm so this is now known. Not sure how to display SkyRoads levels in the Camoto tile-based map editor though...it kind of needs an isometric level editor I think.

It's a similar type of claymation to Gumby but it wasn't part of another show - it was put on in the five minute gap between other shows. IIRC it was only on in the early 90s because I don't remember seeing it when I was older. I loved Round The Twist too. I also just finished re-watching Spellbinde...

Since there are quite a few Aussies here, and since I recently went on a nostalgia trip (now I have The Trap Door theme in my playlist, that's got to be one of the best theme songs ever) does anyone remember the name of that filler show on the ABC where the two plasticine balls would roll around on ...

For what it's worth, as someone who ported Xargon from DOS to Linux/Windows , it can be easy or hard depending entirely on how the code is structured. For well written games, there are usually a set of functions that deal with the hardware directly, so you only have to replace these with modern equi...

That's fine to explain things as much as you want, I was just thinking that you probably don't need three columns for that - all the explanation can go in the same column. It would break the sort but as you say, the sorting is probably not terribly useful with such a short list. Who's gonna sort by ...

Just in case nobody has noticed it yet, the dosgames.com Christmas logo is very much Keen related! (Look at the top of the page or click on the link in the first post.)

That does look good. Do you need separate columns for description, notes and effect though? Or would they all fit in one column?
Do you think it is worth dropping the columns on the previous example like the number of shots to kill, then?

Help with SkyRoads compressed level format
Hi all, I'm trying to reverse engineer the compression algorithm used by SkyRoads to compress its levels. If anyone is able to help, here are four example files , both compressed and decompressed. The decompressed versions were obtained from a DOSBox memory dump, so there are extra trailing 0x00 byt...

Some parts of The Lion King have been reverse engineered and level editing is definitely planned, but until now it was a low priority for me because I've never seen anyone ask for an editor before. Camoto is able to decrypt and edit the .EPF data files the game uses, but it doesn't support any files...
