there are so many unkillable enemies, or enemies that take tons of shots to kill. I either die or run out of ammo, and then die.. In my experience, it is far more productive to save ammo for the temporarily stunnable guys and dodge normally killable enemies (Krodacians, Probes, Shikadi, Yetis) inst...

Adding to Capt- er, Commander Keen's post above, it'd also be nice if the game validated its command line on startup. I accidentally passed "-ck 4" instead of "-ext ck4" and I didn't notice my mistake until Commander Keen mentioned my character's odd behavior on IRC.

Sure.

I really doubt it, since the code locations may vary a lot between versions, but there are patches to upgrade earlier versions of Keen 5 to 1.4 online IIRC.
