File modify dates shouldn't change when files are copied over, they usually only change when the file is actually modified. If you check the rest of the files, their modify dates are still in the 1991-1993 range. This might be a lot to ask, but since your friend is possibly one of a handful people w...

This is an amazing find! :eek Someone already managed to completely convince me that the CGA version was scrapped, and then you pull this. Old warez/shareware collections can bring about some mighty treasure.

By the way, you wouldn't happen to know why the modify date of the EXE is 2010?

So the question is, do you also have a copy of Keen 3 v1.1?

I already added the differences to the Keen wiki. It was the Commander Keen 2 scene release by OWI that had this version. I didn't manage to find the Keen 3 OWI scene release (but I'm not too confident it has to be 1.1 as it seems OWI just pulled some random distribution of Keen 2 of a BBS to releas...

Keen 2 version 1.1

Found a new version of Keen 2 whilst looking through some stuff identifying itself as version 1.1. It seems to be based on the same code base as shareware 1.3 so I guess it's safe to assume that if you ordered the game at the right time you got version 1.3 of episode 1 and version 1.1 of episode 2 a...

Goddamn, has to be the first time I actually got fooled by a bot. :o

Have to say the poll results are quite surprising to me, thought myself it would've been a fight between Keen 1 and Keen 5. As per DHeadshot's suggestion, here's my order of the Keen games: Keen 5 - Great level design, great music, great graphics, everything just seems to be about perfect in this ep...

Because John doesn't actually have it. Tom has it on some 20 year old disk that is probably unreadable by now though.

Alright, it seems two files had not been entirely correctly extracted, these being KEEN1.EXE and LEVEL90.CK1. Thanks to hightreason for bringing this to my attention. I updated the links in the initial post to point to archives with the correct files. Neither of these affect the game in any way (the...

When you think about it, if you didn't know the story for the game wouldn't that intro sequence actually be quite confusing. You just see some random ship and some weird creature taking something from it. If you saw Keen walking away from the ship and then saw the Vorticon approaching your ship and ...

Interesting. I see people are ignoring FileDiff. There really isn't much to be gained doing this. Comparing byte differences between EXE files doesn't really give you anything useful. I also believe there may be a God mode, I'll check as soon as I can decompress the EXE, does anyone know how it is ...

Alright, I think I just found proof that version 1.0 of the game is in fact also a beta version of the game. At least if the 3D Realms release history page is to be trusted (having December 14th, 1990 as the release date of the game). Here's why: Apogee Software always messed with file modify dates ...

-Vorticon has different jumping sprite I'm not sure I stated this well enough, but the graphics files were corrupted beyond repair (at least beyond my capability to repair them) so I took the graphics files from v1.0 of the game. I'm pretty positive that this version is supposed to have the beta ti...

One quite interesting difference I noticed is that if you stop at the edge of a tile that is next to a drop, you will start sliding (sliding in the way as on frozen blocks, not on ice) down.
