There's a new version of the Editor: Version 0.9d BETA Some of the new features are: - improved Level Editor (can now display tile attributes) - new AudioT Editor (edits PC Speaker and AdLib sound effects) - new IMF Converter (converts MIDI and IMF songs into the IMF format used by Duke 2) The new o...

I don't notice any difference. What am I missing? That was the point. ReDuke was supposed to play the demo just like the original game did. The gameplay is the same, but there are some minor differences. For example, the reactor doesn't spawn particles when it explodes. Is this an authentic disasse...

It's a single EXE file (about 440 KB) that I put in my Duke 1 folder. The only thing this program doesn't load from the original game files are the strings (they were contained in the original EXE anyway) and the controls. Everything else is loaded directly from the original files and converted into...

Although I wonder if you can alter the OPL patches in the source code or maybe the MAME code that was used...I can't say much more because there is no source available. MID2IMF doesn't use any MAME code. All it does is parsing MIDI files and converting the MIDI commands into register/value pairs th...

@gerstrong: I noticed that there already was a new version of your IMFPlayer after I wrote the post above. I sent you a PM, but your inbox appears to be full. I found and fixed the bug that prevented your IMFPlayer from playing IMF files that use the OPL rhythm mode (Monster Bash is probably the onl...

"hidden" PC Speaker option in Wolfenstein 3-D
While I was implementing a PC speaker emulator for the Wolf4SDL port of Wolfenstein 3-D, I noticed there were routines in the original Wolf3D source code that could play digitized sounds via the PC Speaker. Unfortunately, there is no menu option to select the PC Speaker as the device for digitized s...

What IS the VOC format anyway? I don't think I've seen it anywhere? VOC <> WAV is welcome indeed. I always thought .VOC was a Creative SoundBlaster wave format. I think it had enough similarities to the .WAV format that they could easily be converted between one another. Unfortunately, that is not ...

There was a bug in IMFPlayer v2.0 that would cause the player to crash when playing an IMF file that uses OPL rhythm mode. I don't know if that bug is already fixed in the current Commander Genius source, but it was still present in the IMFPlayer source code that I downloaded 10 days ago. An updated...

Also, could you put an IMF file option in? I'd like to be able to scan an existing IMF file and remove all the dummy commands; I have noticed that the converter does this very well, but I don't always like how it converts midis and would like to modify existing IMF files. I assume this should be tr...

I tried importing an IMF file made with this converter into Keen 4, but all I''m getting is silence when the song plays. Unless I made a mistake, is it possible some setting needs to be changed? I'm not sure what IMF type the converter creates, but maybe it's the wrong IMF type? I don't have much e...

IMF tools (as if we didn't have enough of them)
Hi there! These are just some quickly thrown together tools related to IMF files. I foolishly started writing these without looking around the web for already existing tools. So I don't know if they are even useful at all. Anyway, here they are: Use this link: IMF Tools The links below are either al...
