Thing is, if I allow threads to end, there's a real risk of people abusing the system so they ALL end!

You just leave fields blank and hit submit. It's a good thing, too, because how else are you going to make endings? I found (and fixed) the bug. The story (stories?) aren't really supposed to have endings, but if people generally think this is a bad idea I'll comment out the check... I'm overwhelme...

I have a less-than-legal copy of Flash 2 and you wouldn't be able to do something like that in it...
