Re: Any Vorticons/Dreams music mods out there?

^ Just want to point out (pride, I guess) that Tulip and Paramultart didn't have anything to do with the original Yorphius II. They shouldn't be listed as authors in your post. (They did the Deluxe version which has nothing to do with me - other than that it's based on my original mod.)

Re: Levellass, Are you OK?

I feel she might be burned-out and/or depressed. Certainly hoping that's not the case! But judging by her posts, she's had so much misfortune that I wouldn't be surprised if it were something like that. And she has a family, which can take a lot of time.

Re: Commander Keen Confronts the Commandeered Planet

Didn't find the secret level but I'll keep my eye on it during the next time I play.

Also one thing I forgot to mention: loved the idea of the collectiables being dangerous waste and by collecting them one is cleaning up the planet / making it environmentally safer.

Re: Commander Keen Confronts the Commandeered Planet

Wow. Just played the whole thing straight through! Amazing work, especially for a first mod. I'm impressed by how distinct each level is (great level design, by the way), and that achieved with a relatively small tileset. The decision to use CGA-like graphics was an interesting one and paid off. Int...

Re: Beta testers wanted for K1 mod

It's a lot of work doing a Keen mod - I really admire those who have done several. But it's also a lot of fun, so I'll keep at it. Yeah, people who haven't done one have no idea! There's just so much to do, especially if you want to get every single detail right, like I do. Anyway, good luck with t...

Re: Short Circuit Oracle (My Keen Galaxy modding debut!!)

I'm 4-5 levels in and I have to agree that it's pretty impressive for a first mod. Good work. :) It may take a while before I get through it because I'm not in a Keening frame of mind at the moment. Also liking the music. What tools did you use for composing/creating the midi files? Looking for a su...

Re: Is Keen boring now?

I have a perspective also from Wolf3D communities and others...some make oldschool mods, some make big TCs, push the limits, taking the bounds of expectations further. Both styles have their audience (shared in between as well) and succeed if they are good, but the core of retro modding is retro. A...

Re: Is Keen boring now?

Not to say that my mind couldn't be blown by an author's creative use of tiling somehow; I'm aware feeling like there is a ceiling and there actually being one are different. In a closed, finite system like Keen there is bound to be a ceiling somewhere but because of the complexity of all that can ...

Re: Is Keen boring now?

I wouldn't call it boring but it sure is different and cannot be approached the same way - or it can be, but one shouldn't expect the same things from it. I think the obvious, as said, is that none of us is that kid and never will be. That just makes things so different. I hardly ever play the origi...

Re: The Sunnylands (K4 levelpack)

I'm on mobile so can't pull up some images on Sunnyland levels to illustrate what I mean, but I definitely don't want to be understood as advocating significant complexity (if Keenrush is responding to my suggestion). Just speaking generally because many commented that the levels are on the shorter...

Re: The Sunnylands (K4 levelpack)

For me these levels were of perfect size and difficulty. For the love of everything, don't make them more confusing in the future! One of the reasons I don't like Galaxy mods as much is the complexity of levels. I've cursed like a sailor while playing some mods where the levels just keeps going and ...
