Re: Tips for recording DOSBox video on Linux (on a low-end computer)
Ah okay, I did find those posts while I was trying to see if you'd already posted a tutorial. I guess it's the same program, though that guide seems to be more geared towards upscaling videos rather than converting to gif, so I didn't realize that it could do both. I'm a baby Linux user and I need s...

Wow when I said there's only so many variations on Robo Red I wasn't expecting that you'd be using all of them haha.

keenwiki account a resume is to tell you apart from bots, trolls and people who try to spam the place with adverts. you can basically look at it as sort of a safety precaution. If you write something Keen related I'll be happy to activate your keenwiki account. I think you're talking about the pers...

Re: Vortiville jump
Lol I'm pretty sure half of all Vorticons mods have some trick jump like that. At least that's how it seems from the ones I've played. Given the bugginess of the initial release of Keen 3, including such things as an unreachable yellow key, I'm not particularly confident that they would've checked i...

Re: Operation Station Infiltration
I think Commander Spleen's Mondochrome also had a RoboGreen if I'm not mistaken. I guess there's only so many variations one can make on Robo "Red".

Re: Return to the Shadowlands
Let me know if you'd like to use these if you plan to go ahead with your project, I'd be happy to share. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Although I don't think it's likely I'd actually work on this anytime soon. I have other Keen projects I'm focusing on this year.... :evil I had been planning to t...

Re: Tips for recording DOSBox video on Linux (on a low-end computer)
Ha yeah, that's what I ended up doing. I'd tried to use something called xmodmap to temporarily remap the keys on a system level but for some reason that isn't picked up by DOSBox so I gave up on that one. Using IJKL as arrow keys is surprisingly intuitive; doesn't confuse my muscle memory at all. F...

Tips for recording DOSBox video on Linux (on a low-end computer)
Estimated reading time: 10-15 minutes Recently, I finally broke off a longtime relationship with Windows. Never again. I've moved over to Linux, and while I have some experience using it as a live boot for one task or another, using it for my primary operating system is quite a learning curve. Now,...

Re: How can voices sound different in Keen 4-6
What a coincidence, I just finished writing a whole essay on my experiences with DOSBox video recording. Maybe it will be of some interest to you. Here it is. Something I learned is that the ZMBV codec seems to not be widely supported in full, and the display does indeed depend on the video player. ...

Re: Return to the Shadowlands
I'm especially excited [...] to work with Keen 6 in general, since Aliens Ate my Babysitter has some of the most interesting alien environments, creatures, and graphics but has never had a game that really makes them shine (it also has the most hellish tileset organization of any Keen galaxy game, ...

Re: The Alphamatic (Version 2 + Marooned Over Mars Expansion)
Dang Gridlock getting some real clout out there. :eek I don't know much about that game, but from what I hear it's a pretty big deal in some circles. Congratulations! (That isn't related to Serenity Forge, is it?) I don't know that there's much you would need to censor in Atroxian Realm outside of t...

Re: KeenWiki on a new server
What is going on with KeenWiki right now? It looks like the last day or two a bunch of spambots joined (which I haven't seen happen on KeenWiki before). They're all called "Anonymous" now, but yesterday when I looked there were several accounts with names that sounded like human first and ...

This sounds exciting! New content from the one and only Ceilick! So much for "Sign of the Vool" being your last Keen project, eh?
Hopefully I'll have a chance to play this in sometime less than several months.

Re: Commander Keen: Sunset (K1 mod with new game mechanics)
Okay! So after finally having played the full release for myself last month, I'm finally getting around to responding to some of the replies on here. In hindsight maybe it wasn't entirely necessary to wait 'til after I played it for some of these, but whatareyagonnado. ------------------------------...
