I'm in SKidrow District too now and I have no technical issues, maybe because I only play Commander Keen games on the easiest settings. ;) I'm just too double-left-handed for normal mode, even easy is sometimes too hard for me. Yes, unfortunately that does seem to happen. I really wish I could have figured out what causes it and I would gladly fix it in an update, but only thing that comes to mind is removing the level all together which is also not ideal since I like Skidrow District. I suspect that Spammer guy's patches...
