I can put that on the to-do list to revisit later if players really miss it. It works ok as it is, see no need for no tasklist. That post of mine was written before I tested the new version. My feeling on the playfield size is that we should set the maximum as large as we can, then different layout...

You could also put some decorative pattern in the 8-pixel wide columns on either side of the playfield if you like. I thought of it - and the best it to draw halfs of the "hard" tile of the particular theme. You can do that without any additional art. Edit: I just noticed that Super Bombe...

The 24 scanlines above the playfield could be filled with a HUD, If you would like to draw that. You could also put some decorative pattern in the 8-pixel wide columns on either side of the playfield if you like. Thinking of it - sometimes you want to turn, but forget to release previous button...maybe to make new button pressed to override previous one is better concept gameplay-wise than to keep first-pressed one.

I think it's a great idea. With very interested concept. There is a legendary story to be told here....and maybe we'll let the player decide his fate...when there is a price to a decision...we know what Keen chose... Dr. Kylstein - note current movement still allows pressing more than one button at once - to get diagonal movements etc...
First key you press needs to be the only one active till released AFAIR.

Did anyone try to make a mod about Commander Keen in "Mercury Mines" - so we can find out what happened to him with his fight with Dr. Proton? Could be a cool project.
