The reasons for this are interesting.

Firstly, Keen will be pushed out of any solid tiles he finds himself in. This stops a lot of annoying clipping bugs. This means that if Keen finds himself in a block of solid tiles he tends to move right and upwards until he exits.

Secondly, if Keen somehow exits the top of the level he can loop around to the bottom of the level. It can take the camera quite some time to catch up with him.
What you really need, not what you think you ought to want.

It isn't on keen wiki, so I wondered if it wasn't widely known. It's pretty cool, though.
I knew about the secret area that leads to the 2 Queen Vivas and the top of the level, but I never knew about the hidden drop door.
