Impossible Bullet in Keen 4
I'm a lurker, I just made a quick account to show you a video I made. I've managed to (kind of) reproduce the "Impossible Bullet" bug from Keen 6 in Keen 4.

I don't think anyone has ever done this before, so... you're welcome!

This is a great find, excellent work! Do you think it could also work on Keen 5?StevenAnzalone wrote:I'm a lurker, I just made a quick account to show you a video I made. I've managed to (kind of) reproduce the "Impossible Bullet" bug from Keen 6 in Keen 4.

I did wonder why the trick should work in Keen 6 and not Keen 4-5 - it's not like they remade the thing from scratch...

My theory as to why standard IBT only works in Keen 6 is that Keen 6 has you jump on and bump your head on switches. The extra code needed for these new collision/clipping things introduced the bug that allows you to actually stand on your bullet in certain situations. Keep in mind that I have no real basis for this theory, it's just ... a feeling that may be completely wrong.
The IBT in Keen6 comes from a similar property of standing on a Gik or flipping a switch.
In the video, you can see that Steven shoots and hits the floor (with excellent timing, BTW) while standing on a Goplat, making the trick working even with Keen4 in (nearly) the same mode of Keen6...

Neat find! The first time I see it.
Might have something, that theory.CK Guy wrote:My theory as to why standard IBT only works in Keen 6 is that Keen 6 has you jump on and bump your head on switches. Hi, I'm a lurker.
Keen 6 came first remember? That code may well have been removed for this very reason, not removing the IB at its source, but just the easiest way to do it.My theory as to why standard IBT only works in Keen 6 is that Keen 6 has you jump on and bump your head on switches. What you really need, not what you think you ought to want.
Ctrl+Alt+F5 - I can never remember either and have to look it up...StevenAnzalone wrote:Enjoy...Commander Spleen wrote:mind = blown

[EDIT]It saves to the DOSBox Capture folder, which should be linked to in the Start Menu folder that you launch DOSBox itself from...
