They wanted it to look alien, and then based the rest of SGA off of that.
It's also probably why those four letters are a lot more similar to the latin alphabet than most of the other SGA letters.

I'm glad you all like the SGA cursive. I kind of have a thing for languages and writing systems so I thought it might be fun to give it a shot...
