Maybe they'll be more info in a beta, if we can find one...

Everything poops, most bodies of water are equal in that respect. Besides, given what gets into things like chocolate, c little poop won't hurt anyone.

Off-topic science moment:
Apparently you shouldn't swim in the sea near a city for 2 days after a rain storm due to incredibly high bacteria counts, and don't swim in a bay for 5 days after a storm. Same reason, just that the water takes longer to clear.

ANYWHO

Were there actually ever and betas released for K4? (Or was the beta Keen Dreams? 8) )

That's a good way to put it into perspective. Even still, ew.

Posting in epic thread.

Honestly, I'm surprised no one found this sooner. Shame on all of you. *BIG SLAP*

A lot of the graphics were butchered with useless black tiles. Anyway, glad to see the puzzle come together.

I can imagine these would come in handy if anyone ever decided to make a Keen 4 PLUS.

I told you *I* saw it, but didn't really pay any attention. There are some minor differences in the sprites too.

Apparently you shouldn't swim in the sea near a city for 2 days after a rain storm due to incredibly high bacteria counts, and don't swim in a bay for 5 days after a storm. Same reason, just that the water takes longer to clear.
If you visit American city,
You will find it very pretty.
Just two things of which you must beware:
Don't drink the water and don't breathe the air.

Pollution, pollution,
They got smog and sewage and mud.
Turn on your tap and get hot and cold running crud.

See the halibuts and the sturgeons
Being wiped out by detergents.
Fish gotta swim and birds gotta fly,
But they don't last long if they try.

Pollution, pollution,
You can use the latest toothpaste,
And then rinse your mouth with industrial waste.

Just go out for a breath of air,
And you'll be ready for medicare.
The city streets are really quite a thrill.
If the hoods don't get you, the monoxide will.

Pollution, pollution,
Wear a gas mask and a veil.
Then you can breathe, long as you don't inhale.

Lots of things there that you can drink,
But stay away from the kitchen sink.
The breakfast garbage that you throw in to the bay,
They drink at lunch in san jose.

So go to the city, see the crazy people there.
Like lambs to the slaughter,
They're drinking the water
And breathing the air.
What you really need, not what you think you ought to want.

I always thought Keen 4 WAS the demo for "Goodbye Galaxy", as in, the free shareware episode. :confused

Well, Keen 4 was originally intended to be a non-shareware episode like Keen 5 or Keen 6, and that's why this demo was created. This idea (and the demo) has been scrapped later.

This one is called "SPECIAL DEMO VERSION 1.0" and was probably released before the full version was completed (time stamp on the files is 1991-10-09, but KeenWiki says it was released one day earlier). It still uses the 4-byte version of the EGAHEAD file that was also used in Keen Dreams, while the full version uses the more compact 3-byte version.
