Favorite Keen Music?

Post by Commander Clown »

I don't come here a whole lot but do lurk now and then in the fringes. I had a very good idea for a post-TUIT Keen fic but it went bust due to lack of inspiration. :foot

Today I had the urge to listen to some music from the Keens so far, and I sort of ended up listening to the Omegamatic theme in a loop (yeah, it's still going on now.)

One of my all-time favorites, personally. Map music for the Keys of Krodacia comes in a close second, with the tracks from Defense Tower Surth and Shivonia City booting the Shadowlands theme from third place.

I've brought up the KoK just to listen to the map music on some occasions.

I used to listen to Keen music all the time before I discovered Doom music, and then started listening to that instead until I discovered non-game music. Still, I find a lot of Keen tunes catchy and/or interesting. The music for Bloogton Manufacturing and BloogFoods, Inc. is probably my favorite, and definitely deserves a more fleshed-out industrial remix or something.

I thought keen 5 had the best music. I always liked the help menu music for some reason.

I also the TUIT world map music.

People need to get themselves winamp.
What you really need, not what you think you ought to want.

Used it for years, just CBF locating the MIDIs.
Bonus of putting the game on is that you can then play the game when you get bored of the music ;)

Funny you should say that. On my old 256MB flash-drive (the one I lost just over a year ago) I had most of the Keen tracks as MIDIs in a playlist and an install of Winamp 2.74. This allowed me to have some element of music on me at all times when I was back at college and was what I mainly listened to while at Computer Club (ah, those were the days)...

BTW, I've had an MP3 player since school, I just didn't take it to college for fear of losing it...

Man, I really don't want WinAmp anymore. Love Foobar2000 more nowadays, especially since it has support for AdPlug.

I generally find the first level in each game has the best music... except *maybe* Keen 5, I can't decide between Wednesday at the Beach or Security Center... Gravitational Damping Hub is also pretty neat.

EDIT: Another one I love that I completely overlooked... Guard Post!

The theme from the Guard Post levels in Keen6 is my favorite. :) I also like the theme from the Domes of Darkness, and the theme from Bloogton Manufacturing/Bloogfoods Inc. Keen6 had my favorite themes.

Least favorite would be the Security Center in Keen5. It's even more annoying to me than the theme from the Pyramids in Keen4!

I actually never found Too Hot to be annoying. It fits so well with most of the levels in Keen 4 that I never really think about it. To the future in Keen 6 is probably the most annoying song IMO
