Huzzah! Someone reads my comments!Ehm, Boobus Tuber?
Keen is still far below par in terms of bosses though, most games I know of end with one, or multiple ones.
I've enver counted the VC as a boss, he's just like the other Vorticons and it's not so much a battle as 'if you can figure this puzzle out, you win. Otherwise sneak by'

Yes but megaman doesn't RELY on bosses for epicness It is epic regardless of its amazing bosses.CKeen wrote:WHAT BLASPHEMY IS THISCommander Spleen wrote:I have always preferred games that don't rely on bosses for epicness.

BLASPHEMY.
Combine Garg and Apples in a bowl, simmer over medium heat for several years. Season with a pinch of regret.
Well, true. But bosses are a fundamental part of Mega Man's gameplay. The bosses and the fact in each game you gain a different weapon by them.
Most platformers I know have bosses at one point or another, Keen is one of the few series that almost doesn't have any boss. And it's a pity since they would be so much fun to fight with neural stunners and pogos (although once again the die-in-one-hit is lame).
Boss fights are usually meant to test your combat skills to the maximum. Indeed, I've faced some *VERY* hard bosses in some games. Some rayman and ratchet & clank bosses are unforgiving.

I think it all depends on how well it's done. A game may very well rely on bosses for epicality, and that's fine, as long as it makes the game as a whole good. Likewise a game with no bosses is fine, as long as it's a good game. You can't make a bad game better by squashing in a big boss somewhere, nor will removing a boss magically improve a game.
