I find it interesting that a human speedrun of Keen 3 beats a TAS of the same. Also, being kind of ignorant of the whole speedrun business, what does SS stand for?

TAS is timed a little different so it does actually beat the human speedrun by a second or two.
SS = single segment

I've decided that Keen 2 needs a faster normal, deathless speedrun so I will get to that asap ;) Also, I wanna do a 100% run of it too! And then maybe Keen 1 and Keen 4 100%!

Mmm, I think that it would be better if people did legit speedruns without using those errors and such stuff... (I'm thinking about keen six in particular, with the impossible bullet trick and glitches)

The bugs are part of the game! Relying on them in non-assisted a speedruns is, um, brave, but if you can pull it off then go nuts!

The assisted runs are only impressive if you don't know they're assisted.

I feel that it's taking advantage of errors within the game... while that is part of the game it's taking unfair advantage of errors that were not picked up while beta testing. :P

I changed my mind. Depends how bad the errors are.

So I watched the first one. After the second level I closed it. It`s just garg. No offense. But that is totally not an acceptable way to pass a level.

Well there's two ways of looking at this, and it's one of the reasons we have things like pacifist runs, and 100% runs and so on.

The first viewpoint says that exploiting glitches is fine; the game was released as it is, so the glitches are a part of it, even if an accidental part. There is a skill in taking advantage of glitches (Some more than others.) And I myself always take glee in seeing them made apparent.

The other viewpoint usually states something like 'There is a way the game is MEANT to be played'; and is usually dead set against TAS and pro 100% speedruns. This viewpoint labels anything that is not strictly 'by the book' as being cheating or unfair (to who exactly though?) and often goes so far as to object to sequence breaking. (Doing things in the wrong order or being able to skip supposedly vital items.) I admit I should like to see a no glitch TAS run, simply because it would force extensive use of ordinary game physics.

However Scarlet, in your honor (And for a few other reasons.) I have removed the 'save game when dead' glitch in my mods so you can't cheat your way out of levels.

There sure is, the TAS is a little under 10 minutes when not counting the end cutscene. Can always try to get as close to that as humanly possible :) A second can always be shaved with extreme luck and flawless jump timing in the vertical sections.
