Commander Keen 4 Goodbye Galaxy - Official Release?
Commander Keen 4 Goodbye Galaxy - Official Release?
My retro games collection does contain this game:
Front/Back scan:
I'd like to have a little more info about this specific release/edition.
I can't check the inside of the jewel case cause I'd like to keep it sealed.
So, is there someone who can provide me with some info about this edition?
Is it a bootleg or an official release?
What's the relese date/year?
Is "Ramgang" a release company?
Is the "Colelctors Series" a serie by "Ramgang"?
Etc....
And: the game package looks like a mini jewel case, what is such case is officially called?
Thanx,
arj0n.

Commander Keen 4 is shareware, as such it's perfectly legal to distribute, and also to charge a small fee for its distribution as long as certain conditions are followed. Thus, bootleg copies of shareware basically can't exist. Since it's not an Apogee disk, it's not an official release either. It's just a shareware distributor release.
Judging from its odd packaging, I would assume that it's late in the floppy disks' life cycle... ~1997. But it's impossible to tell.
Ramgang was a shareware distribution company. All of their releases were "Collector Series" games. What's most interesting is that all of these games came with custom made trading cards!
You can see some of the other releases in the series here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/phreakinde ... 469631882/
And yeah, the packaging is a floppy disk jewel case.

And I love that they included the cards! Does anyone know why? Was it so they could legally jack up the price or something or just because they're awesome?
Keening_Product was defeated before the game.
