I've known about that door for a long time. I believe its a glitch caused by the tile there having the door property. The "door" can be entered at multiple heights.

The zone below the tar pit is normally not reachable for Commander Keen, because he dies if he touches hot tar. It's only relevant if the cheat God Mode is used.

Very cool videos! Though you used god mode a few times. Why you didn't shoot atchnuts instead of using god mode? They're immortal anyway.

Awesome! I'd totally forgotten that platform existed, and the 7 1-ups.. haven't seen those in years. (Funny timing, since I just played that level a few nights ago, first time in years.)
