How do you store/display your keen games?

Post by RoboBlue »

I just bought a boxed copy of Goodbye Galaxy on ebay, and I'd really like to display it, but I'm not sure how.

How do you guys store/display your Keen games?

All in a plastic bag in a closet -- at my parents'. At least I hope so. :eek

I never owned any official physicals; the copied floppies my uncle gave me have much more sentimental value.

The problem is light and heat are the enemy, not only to the box which in many collections fades along the spine, but to the floppy disks and even CDs inside. As such any physical games I own are kept snug away in my computer desk, free from light and warmth and prying eyes.

On your desktop?

When I want to play the original seven games, I have them all consolidated into one folder in my ID collection:

I never got around to organizing my old Keen/mods folders:

...But I'm working on a new mods folder that is much cleaner:

... Now if I could just get around to tidying up my desktop...

Well...it's accessible from my desktop anyway. :P

In actuality, the Keen games are in subfolders under C:\Games\DOS\Keen. There is also a Mods folder and a Fangames folder under Keen, each with its own further subfolders, and subfolders within subfolders for the occasional variations/levelpacks of mods.

My games folder is actually pretty well organized. If only everything else in my life could be like my games folder.

Also, you should make a Boulder Dash clone called "Paramultart's Desktop." The boulders are replaced with VLC icons.

I have a dedicated Keen folder in my User directory.

It is organized into fanart, official games (versions and patches), mods, tools and an extant copy of the wiki. The mods are organized by game and mod version. I also have (nearly) all the Keen levelpacks.

Heh, yeah I did. 8)

80 bucks was a lot more than I paid for my shrinkwrapped copy of Aliens Ate my Babysitter, but I've wanted Goodbye Galaxy boxed for ages.

I think you guys (levellass and keenrush) are right though; they're safest stored in a sturdy box in the closet. :(

Just make sure your closet doesn't get mouldy.
