Oh yea, i forgot about the actual places in game. Yeah they do look pretty small, but i guess in comparison to acutal amoebas they are still huge.

I always assumed they were 1-celled too, but looking at the official keen2 story...

"...powered by cells from the Big Purple Space Amoeba..."

It seems unclear at best. It just makes more aesthetic sense to me that they are 1 cell (the Mothership has 8 individual amoebas) and the machines are suking off juice from them or something.

However, I give you another mystery.

Does the Mangling Machine use SIX AMOEBAS??? I use this as evidence that either the purple thing in Keen 2 is a small cell of the multicelled amoeba or that what we see in keen 2 is all just amoeba juice.
The Viking II lander actually did land on a 'rock' on Mars.

Well, there are some differences in pixels, so they aren't amoebas.

I was actually aware of the Mangling Machine,

I didn't notice there were some pixel changes, so I assumed, yes, it uses amoebas as power supply. I mean they are also a vulnerable point of the mangling machine (just as with the Tantalus Ray), and both are possibly Morts technology, so why shouldn't he use the same power supply for both, if it works well.

Because the Mangling Machine isnt capable of blowing up a planet. He wouldnt need six amoebas, let alone one.

I always thought they were sparks of energy, but I never realized they looked like those things in Keen 2.

Wow, I seriously do not know how I didn't make the connection before, considering they are BOTH PURPLE SPARKS YOU SHOOT AT TO WIN IN KEEN: VORTICONS. In any case, yeah, if eight can blow up a planet, six sounds like massive overkill to make some legs and arms stomp up and down.
