It's actually really simple. Just think about it; why should they? There's nothing in it for them... They could make more money off of it if someone licensed it instead, which seems like some sort of remote possibility since there's still an interest in Keen with some people.
Wow look at me I'm lurking

Well, you have to keep in mind that Keen was really a team creation. Although Tom Hall did come up with the concept, he and Romero and the Carmacks were all responsible for creating the games themselves. I mean, Romero designed a good chunk of the levels (in addition to other stuff), and Adrian Carmack was responsible for pretty much all the art in the later games. And besides, Tom Hall left id, which owned Keen right from the very start. So no, no one stole Keen from Tom Hall.Nospike wrote:That's nasty. Imagine you made an awesome game character and your colleagues stole it.

Hi all! As I said before, things have become a bit busy with the new term. Hindu mythology is great but writing the papers can be tiresome. That's why I decided to work a bit on this instead of doing my homework.
I still have found nobody to help me with coding in GM8Pro (any takers?) but that's ok. I still have plenty of levels to redesign. The process I use to fine tune my graphics is none other than... Microsoft Paint! The screens I made below were made in this way. Later on I will do the transfer into the game design program (will be much easier to code if I use the level image like a background).
The first image is an example from Keen 1 and the other two are my own renditions. With and without backgrounds.
Not in game.
Doing things this way helps me make needed adjustments before importing all the pieces into GM. For example, apart from an area in the background with a tile issue, some of the horizontal spacing of the colored bricks needs to be fixed.
I still plan on making some outdoor backgrounds so don't worry!
Comments appreciated!
Anyway.. enjoy. Please do not use textures from my images, thank you.
