Maybe that can be patched in? I don't know how though.

I'd still love to see Keen4 with the charge jump mechanic.

Patching in an enemy that freezes Keen should not be too hard, getting frozen Keen to behave properly would be moreso. What about 'the pogo' though? Doesn't Keen have one in Galaxy?

Keen starts with one in Galaxy. He has to find it in Vorticons 1.
There was something here, but my yorp ate it.

And it can be found in more than one place. :)

Yeah, you kind of need it to finish Keen 1. Thankfully if you know where to look, you can find it in the stage that you need it in.

Actually, I think the game be finished without it. The level designers seemed to take that into consideration.

SPOILER: The last level and the cave are the two levels the pogo can be found from

I think there's a jump in the final level that requires using the pogo.

This is a pretty cool game, though at times it's almost unplayable (the last vorticon in the Ice City anyone?). Aside from the glitches and poor design, there's a lot of neat stuff here. The graphics borrow too much from Keens 4-6, but the new/revamped graphics were quite fun to see. What amazed me most was how faithful the level designs were to the original levels. When I tried remaking some of those levels in my abandoned Keen 1 Redone mod, I found it incredibly difficult to mimic the designs of the original levels.

As for making this into a Galaxy mod, I don't think it would work. First, you'd need to get a hold of the creator so you could get the graphics, as it wouldn't be possible to extract them from the exe as far as I know. Second, imo the game isn't really good or original enough to merit a Galaxy remake. A few modders have been working on their own Vorticons-to-Galaxy projects/tilesets, and those are quite a lot better.

I found it perfectly playable and beat it without issue.

Also we already have the graphics, extracted by KeenWiki user Illidan5. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3654819/Keen/keen1g.zip

Now this was a fast extraction. I really enjoyed the game, and felt that the graphics were great for something that consisted almost entirely of stolen stuff. I like how it was put together and manages to retain a mars atmosphere pretty well. Especially treasury and Emerald City surprised me with nice details.

So Keen suffocates?

But yeah, I have to think twice every time I see the screenshots - really does look like Vorticons.
