EDIT:
I'm making a thistle monster, because thistles are the "floral emblem" of Scotland. I'm proposing the idea of some kind of Golf thing too...
Keen's ammo could be changed to golf balls that explode on contact.
Also, if it's a keen 6 mod the heart thingy that ate the giant sandwich could be a thistle monster without interfering with gameplay too much.

As I see it, this can either be a pretty cool mod/game, or a joke about koraths and scotts. I'm much more preferential to the first than "Ach, herp derp, my wee bonny korath fell in the loch" :celtic

Here's MMS' Korath police with some shading alterations and a complete walking animation, Korath female based on MMS' sketch, and an alternate sparky design.

I just now noticed the racism in the very fact the first new enemy introduced in this mod (discounting robo blue) is a korath police officer. :stunned

It's not racism, it's harmless fun. I'm part Scottish and perfectly OK with it...

Stop calling out racism when nobody means any harm. In fact, in this case I'm not even sure I know what you're talking about. (I'm also part Scottish, for the record :P )

There is a difference between parody and racism.
If, for example (and I don't know of anyone who thinks like this), the Scottish-based characters were wallowing in pig slop, engaging in in-family relations and were described as being "base", THEN there would be concern. I think that this seems okay! I don't think that the Scots are ashamed of their Tartan! Not doing any of the clear Scottish references, given that that seems to be a theme, is much the same as doing the Christmas mod without any hats! :christmas

That only applies in the Shetland Islands! :P

I think that, in designing the story and conceptual layout for the mod, the Scotsman aspect of the Koraths should be downplayed a tiny bit, not for any reason other than to avoid making that the central joke of the entire game. There are lots of interesting things that can be done with a Shikadi invasion of a planet whose culture and society wasn't much developed in the Keen canon, and I'd hate to see it denigrate into, as Ceilick says, a series of Scotsman jokes.

I'd actually be stoked to help with working out the story and concept...although it might turn out to be rather involved in war politics more than a Keen game ought to be. :P (I'll help with artwork too, although I have a lot on my plate and I suppose I'm not technically that "new" to modding...)

You know, the stereotypical fat scottish cop that eats doughnuts all day?

Definitely don't want to exclude anyone just plain interested in working on this (plus, your roboblue spawned this in the first place :P). And it seems theres a lot less people interested in trying galaxy modding than I thought there'd be (that or the idea just isn't that appealing).

Concerning the story, I think since this would likely be a singular episode, and because its building off the original story, theres room for 'deeper' story elements than the original games might have had, so long as we keep these elements 'keenish'.

This idea just occurred to me: what if the Shikadi are attacking Korath III to rescue their comrades that were arrested at the end of keen 5?

The stereotype is Irish, not Scottish. And the "fat dougnut eating" part is a cop stereotype regardless of ethnicity.

Nope - only in North America and possibly Australia too. The stereotype here is still happily that of the village Bobby, complete with helmet, whistle and truncheon ("'Ello 'Ello 'Ello, What's all this then sonny-Jim?").

Yep, we definetly need to get back to the technology aspect of [keen mod name here]. How about a bunch of different breeds of Shikadi dogs, such as Shockuahua or Electric Retriever? :shockshund

I rather like the idea of the Koraths being a society which, while technologically advanced, has remained behind the galaxy due to its isolation (I'm assuming it's an isolated system, as Mortimer wouldn't likely choose a populated region of the galaxy or a key species for the construction of something as sensitive as a galaxy-destroying superweapon.) The Koraths should then be able to defeat the Shikadi less through force and conventional warfare, and more through nationalistic fervor and possibly guerrilla tactics or something to that effect.

As for the Shikadi, we should replace or redesign all of their units with attack rather than defense in mind. The Robo Blue, as we've established, is a combat version of the Robo Red guard...the Sparky Mk II would be high-speed attack units, the new Shikadi dog should be modeled after a larger, more aggressive breed than the decidedly domestic dachshund, maintenance units like the Little Ampton would be likely omitted, or at least replaced with heavier battlefield maintenance units, and so forth. And I still like the idea of conscripted Korath soldiers, likely as low-level grunts...
