Commander Keen in: HAYRO! (recruits needed)
yeah, i thought i mentioned it on the first page, maybe i forgot. i'll tell him to get an avatar or something
as for the images, he has successfully ripped and recolored master chief, and maybe some of the stipulates.
the project is still going strong!

alright, blame me for the page being made, I requested that Eros create it.tulip wrote:it's an awful habit imo to start wiki pages when there wasn't even a demo released, because as experience has taught me: many projects get cancelled, far more than those gettign finished actually.
Combine Garg and Apples in a bowl, simmer over medium heat for several years. Season with a pinch of regret.
this isn't a rip-off of Celick's TUIT, as Celick broke ground when he started his project, as he replaced all manner of objects, and TKoK barely looks like K4 (expect, you know, the point item pick-up animation, but that can't be helped). what I am trying to do is to push Keen to its limit, to see how much of the game i can change without breaking it.
for example, using keen 6, i know it's possible to retain gems between levels, and so i can make a few levels that force you to finish another level, using a discouraging animation as a punishment .
The other goal of this is to parody another game, to see how close i can mod Keen to be similar to Halo itself.
EDIT: doesn't have numbers, only almost random title screens.

If you're thinking about giving the player a gem he'll need at the beginning of the next level (as levellord did numerous times) then DON'T. because if you enter that next level, open the door and die you won't have the key when you restart the level, hence will be stuck forever.Eros wrote:for example, using keen 6, i know it's possible to retain gems between levels, and so i can make a few levels that force you to finish another level
You crack me up little buddy!
The hell? This isn't what tulip was talking about. If you retain a key from the previous level (which you CAN'T access anymore since you finished it), and die after opening the door, and attempt to play it again, you'll be stuck and forced to start a new game or to cheat.Eros wrote:not exactly, there will be an extralife on the spike/whatever, so you never truly lose lives, just dignity
hmm, you make a good point. hadn't thought of that, and keen obviously erases gems upon death, so i need a way for this mechanic to change. otherwise, i'll could simply make those gate levels a simple 10*5-tile area that you just need a gem to cross. however, this seems excessive and will only make the game more annoying than it should.
maybe a massive sign that says "SAVE HERE, you won't regret it" after the gate?

It could be made into something like a checkpoint I suppose...unless you come up with a really clever way to do it though, it might be better to scrap it. The only other way I could see it being feasible is if the gems were necessary to beat levels that would allow you to go to secret areas on the world map. This would decrease the number of levels in the actual game though.
I'd like to get a Futurama mod going. Here's what I've got so far:
