New Keen4 Levelpack by MrBlack

Yes I'm working on a whole new 17 levels for Keen4 using the original tilesets (so it's a levelpack not a mod). Currently they're quite challenging on Normal and Hard but I like my levels to challenge people so they feel like they've legitimately accomplished something when they finish. I favour skill intensive challenges so you shouldn't have to rely on luck much if at all. Expect constant action that'll keep you on your toes and playing 'til the end ;)

If you want a taste of my previous work, try my "highly acclaimed" Keen3 levelpack here: viewtopic.php?t=492

13 levels have been completed so far, here are some screenshots just for you :)

I've completed all but the Well of Wishes and the secret level. I also haven't been able to edit the text at all so you'll still see the original level names and such :P Enjoy!

(I highly advise NOT playing on Hard difficulty the first time through!)

The last screenshot doesn't really look interesting, you should change the background.

Aside for that, not bad.

the pictures look awesome, but the last one i agree, looks...bland.

also, can you make a gauntlet gauntlet?

a long series of spears that look like gloves, smashing from the ceiling to the floor. crazy manouvering may be required, but it will end in fun.

That's all it really needed to be much less bland, in my opinion. :)

Well, I like levelpacks which use the tileset in an interesting way. I can't remember if that bland background has been used anywhere in the original game. It would certainly be pretty interesting to have tiles like that in the levels.
I like what I see so far. Keep it up! :)

Just so you all know, it's been slow but I HAVE been working on this. Just had other things to do as well.

Edit: I've been trying to find a program suitable for recording so that I can record a run through of one of my recent levels as the next teaser. So far the ones I've found give me a terrible frame rate. Any ideas?

Use dosbox to record the video. There's a tutorial here: http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Recording_Video

After that, it should just be a simple matter of uploading to YouTube (or, if that fails, uploading the file and linking it here).

In Dosbox, Ctrl + Alt + F5 will capture video. The console window will tell you the directory where it is saved.

Wow... This is exciting! I have always dreamed of making a level pack of keen 4. When i was young and first playing keen 4 me and my brother always imagened levels like this that were off of the main map we thought that once in the pyramid of forbidden at the end was a way to more levels.

It will be good to see how this works out. I dont think anyone has made any very long level packs apart from just 1 level ones.
