Request: Commander Keen sound effects!

Post by Hyrule_boy »

I'm currently working on a Commander Keen fangame in the style of the first 3 episodes. I got most graphics I need but I do not have the sound effects.

So does anybody here has sound effects from the first 3 Commander Keen games? Then please post them here!

Credit will be given to the ripper and Id Software of course.

And when I'm a bit farther in the development of my fangame then I will post a topic here with information, screenshots, and demo(s)!

p.s I need the sound effects in wav or mp3 files.(I prefer wav)

I *have* roughly 99% of all of the sounds.

Post your IMing program and I'll send them to you when we're both online. They're in MP3 format, you can easily find something that will convert them to WAV if that's your prerogative.

I have send you my e-mail adres from MSN through a PM. Although I think it would go allot faster if you would upload all the sounds in a zip file or something at a site like www.megaupload.com or something. :dead

I just bumped into this collection of Keen 1-3 WAV files as part of levellord/levellass's patch index:

http://levellord.toxicsheep.com/Index/Sound%20compiler/

I didn't even know about this.

Me too. I've seen both of them on K:M since the PCKF move, so they haven't completely fallen of the face of the earth, at least.

Only 1-3 WAVs? So there's no dopefish burp? :(

Nope, not in that set. It is, however, in my file... Which remains strictly on my computers and the four people whom I've given the file to.

I'll have hyper fast internet back again in 3 months. If you want the sounds, you'll have to wait until then.

You could try extracting the sounds yourself... (I'm surprised I hadn't posted that already!)

The WAV files on http://levellord.toxicsheep.com/Index/Sound%20compiler/ have been converted badly. Audio samples that have the value 0x00 should have the value 0x80. This is because PCM data is unsigned and the converter used 0x80 as a mid-point rather than 0x00. This is causing drops in the audio level which make them slightly different to the original pc-speaker sounds.

I have the PC dopefish burp, but only Napalm has the adlib version in high quality.

Fileview is nice, but its extraction of Keen sounds is terrible!
What you really need, not what you think you ought to want.
