Netkeen: anyone up for a game?

I just discovered Netkeen, and I can't do otherwise than conclude that it's awesome.

How about we gather as many people as possible, pick a date, and then play it? I can host through Hamachi. Who's up for this?

P.S. what's the maximum number of people who can play in one game?

Hey candyjack, have you ever been to the Keen IRC on foonetic?

We have a hamachi network called #pckf (yes, the # is part of the name and required). The password is keen ;)

Thanks, I'm in the network. However, Hamachi for Linux isn't capable of chatting with people in the network. How often are games played and how are they arranged?

You can find details on how to set up and join a game at the website: http://netkeen.nfshost.com/

Which country are you in? Distance can cause lag, so it's best to find people closer to you.

Oh, and welcome to the PCKF.

although i did everything as instructed on several pages, my forwarded port udp 10450/tcp 6000 does not function properly. if anyone here has the ability of hosting a netkeen game, please do invite me as a game client so i can enjoy netkeen nonetheless. :dopefish

Forwarding is nessecary for joining too, isn't it?

Nope, when joining, the initial connection is outward, so firewalls allow the inbound responses.

If you hang around in #pckf or #netkeen on irc.foonetic.com, you stand a good chance of finding a game.

Am I right in assuming you haven't used IRC before? If you have you can just ignore this.

If not, here's what ya do:

1. Get an IRC client. There are several choices which automate most of the process, but you need one to connect.
2. Connect to irc.foonetic.net through whatever means are unique to that client. If it just gives a prompt '/connect irc.foonetic.net' or '/server irc.foonetic.net' might work, but most clients have their own method.
3. Join channel with '/join #netkeen' or other method that the client uses.

Hope that helps, but if I've confused you further here's an article on the subject:
http://www.irchelp.org/irchelp/irctutorial.html
If you don't want to download a client you can use something like this:
https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.foonetic.net
[Edit again] Scarlet's signature redirects you to whatever irc client you may have installed (note the irc:// prefix) most of the time you need to join the room seperately.
