Sorry to necro post, buuuuuut... it's been ages since I last heard anything about this. (The last time actually being after I beat Valentine's Keen) What's the status?

Most certainly it is. Whenever you see a new Keen 4 patch on the wiki it's probably something to do with this.
I've just had to a few behind-the-scenes total do-overs and these things take time, especially without a dedicated modding group like say, Atroxian Realm has.

Just finished up a nifty patch that lets the player grab and drop crates to pogo on:

Especially since Keen can't (Usually) pick up more than one at a time. Also, there are different numbers of crates in different difficulties.

Ok, it's cool either way.
You can do so much with it. Probably not only to move blocks....though can't think of another use of this patch right off the spot.

I noticed a cigarette there. So I see what are you doing there. Your mod will make another degradation Keen, who's running away from classes to go smoke cigarettes! To find some cigarettes though, he would need to find some crates. Idle animations: keen smoking. The drops - LSD. The moon tile keen - I don't even want to start here for what it can be used for. But there's a catch. If he finds enough crates, he'll be able to find some weed too. And "Where is everybody?" will refer to when Keen is getting "high" and he'll be like "whoooa duude, wherrrs' everybody meen? wooah! whats dat! poniezzz!".
But anyways, I'm totally against such kind of plot involving Keen.

Not quite, he burns the cigarettes, they fuel his flamethrower. His town is full of them, what with the evil corporation having its headquarters there. (It makes uranium, tobacco and toxic waste!)

Pushing the blocks along the ground, easy. Lifting them up so they stay at say waist height and he carries them around? Slightly harder but possible, looks a little weird though. Interestingly this is somewhat how the temporary invincibility patch works.
